Follow the white wires with a black tracer to the ground point. You probably have a bad ground issue. Look at the wire connector under the rear of the vehicle for corrosion it it, or broken wires.

    Then get back to me.

How to fix my tail lights, my head lights work, brake light works and turn signals work, dash do too

Maybe a broken or lose wire. The turn signal and brake lights operate from one wire and the tail lights operate from a separate wire. It is possible that the tail light elements burned out of both bulbs. Pull the bulbs out and check them first.

How do I change the passenger tail light bulb on my 2006 mitsubishi galant?

  • For the tail light you first need to remove the brake light that is part of that assembly.
  • Open the trunk.
  • Inside of the trunk is some matting you need to pull down a bit.
  • You may need to remove a net first.
  • Once you pull the matting/carpet down you will see some plastic wing nuts around the are of the brake/tail light.
  • Remove them.
  • Now wiggle the brake light out
  • Now wiggle the tail light out.
  • Twist the socket to the bulb that is bad out.
  • The bulb just pulls strait out.
  • Revers to complete.

  • Thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

BRAKE AND TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK. HAVE REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH AND LIGHT SWITCH. NO CHANGE. LIGHTS ARE GOOD, CAN HOT WIRE AND RUNNING LIGHTS WORK. ALSO WHEN HOT WIRED DASH LIGHTS COME ON

Hi.

Test with a voltmeter the contacts to the fuses for tail lights and brake lights. If there is no power getting to fuses from instrument panel, and switches had already been replaced, then it is a wiring problem from switch to fuse box, otherwise from fuse box to lights. the defective wiring must be repaired or rebuilt.
Regards.

Tail brake lights

u will need to remove the tail light assembly to change the bulb, Follow this procedure
Remove the assembly
  1. Open your tailgate.
  2. Look for two (2) round flat black discs about the size of a dime (but thicker) on the inside of the body (between the red lens and the weather striping).
  3. Using a pair of pliers, pull out each of these two discs.
    • Note they are in tight and may require a fair bit of force to remove.
  4. Make sure the inner part of the disc also comes out. There are two parts to this system, a grommet and a plug:
    1. Push the plug backwards through the grommet.
      • The grommet fits into the actual hole in the body, and is spread by the plug, the pressure holding them in place.
    2. Carefully remove both grommet and plug.
      • The lens assembly will fall away from the vehicle when you pull out the second grommet so be careful.
  5. Note the wiring harness that connects to a plug inside. Beside that plug are two holders for the actual bulbs.
  6. Remove the holder by pressing the sides inwards and pulling. The light socket should come out.
  7. Replace with the correct bulb (The 2004 Dodge Caravan uses an 3057 bulb that has a flat base with 2 wires running over it. Check your manual for your bulb.)
    1. Pull on the old bulb to remove.
    2. Press the new build firmly in.
  8. Check the light:
    • Press the brake pedal.
    • Turn on the signal light.
  9. Make sure it lights before replacing the lens assemb
