The linkage clamps on with screws loosen them and pry them up with a screwdriver and on the transfer case just take the nut off and leave the linkage on.

98 Dodge Dakota 2.5 engine have speed manual transmission stuck in reverse how do I get it out?

I would check the linkage in the shifter. Also on the transmission, check all the connections.

Shifter is not going back far enough to have reverse lights when in reversdse

you need to take the shift unit apart. check to make sure it is calibrated for the gear it is in. if it is at the tranny, (why did you think to push on it there? _) then your linkage has a worn part or connection has loosened in the linkage. chek the switch to see if it has come loose or is worn.

There is a bushing held in by a pin which attatches to a cable lingage. The cable and linkage fell apart . Its mainly a plastic bushing that came out cansmo_171.gifcansmo_172.gif

My linkage on transmission is off a little, it sometimes dont go into park good, i need to adjust it but not sure, it looks like the linkage should be closer to the end of the rod coming out of trany

Loosen the bolt on the linkage at the transmission, then have someone put the gear selector in neutral. now move the linkage back and forth until you find the middle. Now tighten the bolt on the linkage and try it now.

this may be a output shaft bearing, but hard to say without hearing or taking trans apart,

Trans axles

remove whole axle.. take strut assembly and steering gear apart ,. then big nut at hub, pull strut/steering linkage away from axle out of center...then pop inner axle shaft out of transmission , with drip pan underneath as you will flow trans fluid from there..do both sides then separate trans and drop...good luck
