2003 chevrolet venture no left & right brake light

There is only high mount brake light is on ( no left & right brake light on), when I apply the brake. I change the brake light switch (near the brake pedal) but still has the same problem. I check the voltage that there is voltage in the high mount brake light only but no voltage in left & right brake light. And there is no voltage in the cable connect to the left & right brake light

I have the exact same problem. Top light on hatch works but neither side brake lights work. Switch must be good if top light works and fuses/bulbs all good. Any ideas?

The bulbs in both brake light sockets have become loose. When I get the bulbs to sit just right, they will work for a short period of time. I have tried new bulbs. All of the other bulbs on the circuit board are fine.
I know when both bulbs are out because the cruise control will not work if at least one brake light isn't working.
The socket is not melted or deformed in any way. I have used a small screw driver to slightly pry up the contacts in the base of the socket and that seems to get them to last a little longer but, it's not a permanent fix. Any other ideas would be much appreciated since the new circuit boards are not cheap.
    Thanks.

I have the same problem regarding my brake lights not working. Still have the top brake light on the door working. I have been troubleshooting this but it still remains a mystery. Their appears to be 2 brake switches on the brake pedal. One is working fine and appears to control the top light on the door and also the trailer lights. ( I have trailer light connection and it works.) The other brake switch (if in deed it is a brake switch) has no power to it. I will look at fuses again. Nothing clearly saying wich fuse is for the brake lights. Will notify when I resolve this problem.

Was not sure how to add this to the previous description but I wanted to describe some troubleshooting I did. I see that many have had some luck with re-seating some new bulbs. I have checked and have confimed that their is no power going to the the bulb. Bulbs look good but definalty no power getting their. This is why I am looking at potentilly one of the brake switch.

I have the same problem. I think the rear box the bulds are attached to has a circuit of some sort inside. My high light and one of the others work. I think that I saw something in the store about a brake light circuit. I am going now and will post

I am trying to check the switch but it is difficult to remove. How can the switch be pulled out to check the voltage?

I'm thinking that that truck has a dual brake switch. One is for the ABS,cruse, and high mount brake light. The other is for the left and right brake lights.

Turn signal doesn't work when headlights on

It sound like you have a grounding problem, does the headlight on the left seem dimmer than the right? Check the ground wires and the light sockets for corrosion.

Trailer brake controller problem

I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.

Left & right brake light not on

Could be the brake switch that is mounted to the brake pedal area. Check if you have voltage out from there when brakes are applied, there may be two leads one for the high mount and one for regular brake lights.

Chevy venture

Solution to your problem ... 1- I purchased from 1aauto.com a pair of Circuit Boards for my Chevy Venture 2003 for 85.00 $ ..free shipping 2 - I Installed them both , all lights now were not working at all. So I checked them and they were all burned ...So I purchased new ones ....Everything was working fine now but now my signal lights were not working left and right .....Checked the fuse box next to the passenger side door .... It was burned . Changed the fuse / Signals are working fine now ....All is good I just did this yesterday evening August 12, 2008 Conclusion ..Change everything going forward so you do not need to run around like I did from one store to another!
  1. Circuit Board : New
  2. Bulbs : New
  3. Fuses : New
Thank you
