I replaced the solenoid because it wasn't getting12 volts then it worked, then it wouldn't crank or click or anything so i replaced the positive wire to the starter and it worked then the solenoid wasn't getting 12 volts so i replaced the solenoid again. It started perfectly the first time after that then nothing. any ideas?

Have you verified the engine will turn over by hand? Disconnect the battery, get a socket that will fit the crankshaft bolt and try to turn the engine over. If OK, reconnect your battery cables, use your digital volt meter, place the negative lead of the meter to the positive battery cable post and the positive meter lead to the start solenoid stud at the starter. You should not see more than 0.5 volts. If you see more than that, your positive cable is bad.
Repeat the same step with the negative cable, result should be the same.
Start there and let me know.

sounds like ignition module inside of distributor cap under distributor rotor button.these do go bad and can easily be replaced.strong suspicion from your details that this is the culprit.
SOURCE: Chevy S10 Pickup Starter. Removed the two bolts
Just changed a starter in a 94 S10 4x4. The only way to remove the starter was to take the passenger side exhaust manifold off and bring the starter out that way. Installation the same in reverse. Hope this helps. Don
