Question about 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser
I am looking @ buying a 1986 HJ75 ute. The fuel pump was replaced by the current owner and since then won't start.
He pulled it with the tractor for 200mts to jump start it and finally got it to work but it was very rough and blew alot of smoke.
Can someone give some ideas on what can be done, or is it hopeless !!!
Sounds like pump timing is out of sync with engine crank and camshaft. Utterly crucial on a diesel engine. all needs to be pinned in place when refitting chain or belt, then pump timing sho uld be set up with a dial test indicator. A job for someone who knows what their doing. Before considering buying this carry out compression check as if timing is out between cam/crank tow starting could have bent valves!
Hope this helps!
