RPM opposite effect on oil guage

On my 99 Grand Cherokee Limited small V8, the oil pressure is fine at idle and goes to zero with engine revs or at highway speeds. Check gauge lite comes on and beeps. Let up on gas and pressure comes back. Replaced sensor. Shop gauge shows pressure fine. Mechanic gave up.

99 Grand Cherokee has 126k miles but oil pump checks fine. Believe problem is in wiring, gauge or computer area. Not sure how computer runs lights and gauges.

on my 2000 grand cherokee my oil pressure is fine at idle but drops to 0 at higher rpm only when cold outside temp. When vehicle warms up problem goes away. Replaced oil pump and sending unit and changed oil with same results. Hooked manual gauge and found pressure normal on manual gauge when vehicle gauge goes to 0. Obviously electrical problem but dont know how to diagnose from here and why outside temp affects it.

How many miles are on the engine? Have you tried to replace the oil pressure switch? is the engine making any type of noise due to low pressure reading?

High oil pressure on guage. It goes to zero with engine off. Where is the sensor?

High oil pressure is ok, lack of pressure if the engine is running, is very bad. Pressure is supposed to drop to zero as soon as you turn off the engine, nothing abnormal about that.

Oil pressure gauge reads normal when first starts. as it warms up, gauge goes to zero. If I rev engine, gauge goes back to normal.

Two things...when it reads zero, is there any engine noise (tapping or knocking)? After you rev the engine does the pressure read normal at idle and function normally, or does it go back down? Either way, you should not drive the vehicle 'till you have a mechanical gauge (yours is electro-mechanical) put on there and the actual pressure is tested. The condition may be a bad sending unit, a bad bearing or possible obstructed oil pump screen. The repair is obviously different for each one and the price is as well.

I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee (4 L) with 225,000 miles. When idling and engine hot, oil pressure guage drops to zero. Any way to tell if it is the pressure sensing unit or not?

ook up a external pressure guage where the sending unit is you will know forsure. with the milage i would guess that the oil pump may be the prblem or to much clearance in yhe bearing.

Irradic reading at oil pressure guage

The sending unit would be the first thing to change, at least it would eliminate that.

94 jeep grand cherokee oil pressure and engine temp?

I'm guessing your engine is'nt making any tapping noise with the low oil press.
Your oil pressure sending unit is most likely the culprit.
Is your car smoking when the temp. goes up?
You engine could be air bound or thermostat could be opening too late (might need new one).
PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WITH A HOT ENGINE.
