2000 Lincoln Ls Heater blowing cool air

The heater blows cool air . It's worse in stop and go traffic . Not as bad on interstate, but never gets as hot as it should.

You also could have air in your coolant system. You can't just add coolant on these models after you drain the system or let it run low on coolant. The degas bottles on these models also have a flaw, where they crack along a seam. Sometimes coolant will leak, sometimes not, depending on how high the crack is on the bottle. But what it is guaranteed to do is allow air into your system, which can cause havoc with overheating (air surrounds the thermostat so it doesn't open) and keep coolant from flowing, particularly through the highest point in the system: the heater core. There is a heater core bleeder valve attached to a line near the top of the degas bottle (next to the expension line up top) with a plastic, flathead srewdriver face. Turn the heat on high and run the system at idle for 5 minutes. Then open the valve and keep it open until a steady stream of coolant comes out. (It's like bleeding your brakes.) That will clear any air from the system and at least give you peace of mind that this is not your problem. Then run the motor at 2000 rpms, with the heat still on high, for about 5 minutes or until hot air starts coming out. Release the bleeder valve again until a steady stream comes out. Then let the system cool and check your coolant level and fill as needed. I'd pull the degas bottle and inspect it...should have been a recall.

Yes you are right about the degas bottle it should be a recall!!! I've had to replace 1 now I think the new one is leaking. Anyone know a good seal to seal the crack on the degas bottle?

Sounds like coolant level is low or possibly thermostat has been replaced with lower temp.

Yes more then likely it's all tied together... Check the coolant level it's probably low or you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system...

Check and see if you have the correct level of coolant in your resavoir. if you do there are 2 breather holes to vent any air in the system, one is on that plastica assembly you replaced the other is back by the resavoir. you can find instructions on how to use these ont the internet.

I have a 2000 lincoln ls v8. First the heat would only blow out cold air. Now the car overheats. I've changed the thermostat. The system coolant is full. I don't know what else it could be. Also how can I...

Water pumps go bad when they leak. If there is a lack of circulation, there could be a clog in the system. Is the heater core getting hot on both tubes at the firewall? If not, then the heater core is clogged up. Has anyone ever put too much sealant into the cooling system that would cause an overheat condition due to lack of circulation of coolant?

Good luck on this repair.

My 2005 linclon ls is having a problem with the cooling system. I have plenty of coolant but my air blows out at the hottest setting only. Not just vent air but it blows like the heater is turned up all...

The solution lies in determining if the heater control is bad or the heater control valve is bad.
If you remove the heater control and using a ohm meter check the resistance on the control while disconnected from everything. When connected to the ohm meter you can turn the control knob and you should see less resistance as the knob moves from cold to hot. If the control checks out then it likely to be the valve assembly. Just order a new heater valve and replace.

My 2000 lincoln ls heater is still not working after i changed the thermostat and water pump, and blowing cool air out. what can it be?

Check the 'heater control valve,' which is attached to the heater hose line under the hood. If it is malfunctioning, it will prevent hot coolant from reaching the heater core, with the result being no heat. This is a $30 part, usually not too tough to get at, although I've never changed one on a Lincoln.
