Question about 2000 Dodge Durango

Tachometer(rpm) 2003 dodge durango...rpm raving continueously(nonstop) up and down as if giving itself gas...shuts down after awhile. I've tried every possible solutions i could think and replacing hose etc...what else could cause it or should i look for?

I had the same problem. I just replaced the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). You can easily do this yourself in about 5 minutes. The part is about 40 bucks and usually available. It would also be a good idea to dissasemble & clean out your throtle body. Or have your local mechanic do this for you.

2003 Dodge Durango (5.9L V8) won't stay running unless you keep your foot on the gas.

Check temp sensor and TPS, throttle positioning sensor.The power control module," a possible thought.Just check all connections. It is always a good idea to spray WD 40 or equivalent in the connections.

Sounds like your battery cable may be loose or not properly attached, try tightening the cables down on the battery posts.

hello po442 ,po455,po456 is leak detected possible, check the gas cap , basicaly you have a leak that is larger than 0.020' and smaller than 0.040' in the gas evaporative system use your nose to find this one thanks

Runing high rpm while in idle

First check for a loose hose or a vacuum leak. If you do not find a leak most likely the throttle position sensor is stuck and causing the truck to idle high. The throttle position sensor sticks, and if this happens you will need to replace it.
