Rear view mirror temperature read out

Since I had my windshield replaced on my 2003 Yukon Denali the compass works fine on the rear mirror however my temperature read out says 'OC'. I've tried turning it off ... I took it back to the glass place and they don't have a clue what is wrong. Any help or suggestions?

SOURCE: temp sensor and compass not displaying on my 2003 yukon xl

Yes. Look in the Fuse Panel inside the Truck. Use a Good Maglight or LED Flashlight and Hold it Behind the Fuses to see the Blown Ones. It is usually in an AUX Outlet. Also check thr Fuse Relay Box under the Hood for a Blown Fuse using the Same Method. See if there is a Relay for this also. If so, Replace it. Let me know if you need any more Help! SOURCE: OC code in rear view mirror temp field

you could always try unplugging the battery for about ten minutes to see if that resets it. make sure you have the code for the stereo first if it requires one.

SOURCE: How do I remove and replace the power side mirror

2003 GMC Yukon - My power mirrors stopped working.... all fuses have been checked and they are all good. Any ideas? These are the power folding mirrors. The function that allows you to fold them in for car washes etc still works.... they just will not adjust when you change drivers, or when you try to adjust them with the controls. Any ideas would be appreciated!

The security system (Passlock) is having problems, it's typical on those trucks. You can find a great write-up here: http://newrockies.ca , it was the only thing that saved my Park Avenue.

SOURCE: dimming mirror temp is OC

OC does not mean out of calibration, it means open circuit (SC is short circuit). Remove the connector from the mirror and measure the resistant between the 2 temp connectors (usually pins 6&7). If you have a resistance between 9k and 12k (or slightly higher depending on the outside temp), your harness and probe are probably good. The problem for me was the connector inside the mirror. Mine is 13 years old. I had to take apart the mirror (some are glued and some are snapped together. Use a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry it open. start at the top of the mirror and slowly work your way all around it. Once it's apart, If you can wiggle the connector at all it will need to be resoldered to the circuit board. Once I resoldered it my temp probe worked fine.

My rear view mirror with temp and compass sometimes will not work. It will show all the digital shows up at once and not the temp, but sometimes it works ok. What can I do?

Does the compass work when the temperature goes out? If the compass still works then chances are that the ambient temp sensor is defective. Also, could be wiring to the sensor. If the compass goes out with the temperature then chances are the mirror itself is defective. Cheapest most common problem is the ambient temp sensor. It's behind the grill by the condenser at the front of the vehicle.

I have 2002 Yukpn Denali XL. There is a OC code that appears in the rear view. What is the cause of this and how can I fix it?

The "OC" indicates your compass is "Out of Calibration". Below is the proceedure to recalibrate your compass.

Compass Calibration
The compass may need calibration if:
After five seconds, the display does not show a
compass heading (N for North, for example), there
may be a strong magnetic field interfering with the
compass. Such interference may be caused by a
magnetic antenna mount, magnetic note pad holder
or a similar magnetic item.
The compass does not display the correct heading
and the compass zone variance is set correctly.
In order to calibrate, the letters CAL must be displayed
in the mirror compass windows. If CAL is not
displayed, push in the COMP button for approximately
eight seconds or until the letters CAL are displayed.
The compass can be calibrated in one of two ways:
Drive the vehicle in circles at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less
until the display reads a direction, or
drive the vehicle on your everyday routine and after
several turns the compass will become calibrated and
will display a direction.

Good luck.

Custom Rear view mirror

Hiya...ALL factory-installed rearview mirrors are installed with different wires due to options.
About 6 different rearview mirrors are installed with those options such as On-Star, light, compass, and those features which use different wires....THIS CANNOT be modified with different rearview mirror....**for example, the Equinox owner attempt to pull out a factory-installed base rearview mirror and put in different one that has compass/temperature built into the rearview mirror**

However, the wires are located inside the front headliner which requires removing the sunvisor (and possible removal of interior plastic trim part at the left/right ends of the windshield) prior to pull the headliner down, and a small metal philips or torx screw is used to secure the rearview mirror onto the bracket glued to the windshield.

The best solution is to leave the original factory-installed rearview mirror in place.
