Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2004 grand jeep cherokee won't start

Son drove jeep til totally out of gas and i didn't realize it. Tried to jump battery multiple times to get started of course no luck (out of gas) but it took 7 galloons just for the low gas light to come on or register anything. Even after putting in 10 gallons it barely registers. Took battery in and tested good but voltage doesn't register either. Sounds like it wants to start but won't fire. Any ideas please?

have you tested for a spark and can you hear fuel pump when switching ign on? just a thought and am not sure on these cars so worth checking but is there a fuel inertia switch that needs resetting as have seen this on many a car before. If above all ok i hate to say it but from jump starting it you have have spiked the ecu with a voltage surge.

Must likely the fuel pump and the fuel line need tobe clean out. it may have **** up all the junk that is on the buttom of the tank.

Good Luck!

Have you tried to jump started ? If your jeep starts when giving it a jump, you may have a bad battery. Check fuses for fuel and ignition systems. If your battery is bad, could be because the alternator is not charging it. Might want to have this component tested.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee has started needing a jump to get started about once a week.. had the alternator and battery tested, both are good. 2 nights ago it wouldnt start, so I got a jump and drove it...

I would have a load test done on the battery as there is a dead cell evident from the number of jump starts you need. Have an auto electrician test the alternator for charge rate and out put. check drive belt condition and tension.

I just bought my son a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The battery and alternator were both recently replaced by the previous owner. He drove the car 2 days no problem. Today the battery was draining as...

the alternator failed this is usually a chrylser and jeep dodge isue the bearing fails and the alternator quits charging the if the light comes on its usually alternator but on some jeeps the light dosent come on because it reads that it is charging

the other thing that it could be is the battery shot on ya the only thing you can do to see if its a good battery do a battery acid test
