hi i assume you mean the cooling system head tank is empty ?this is the container in engine bay that has the antifreeze mixture or are we talking about the screen wash container which also in winter req's anti freeze washer fluid ??? however if the coolant head tank is empty ? then you must have a coolant leak somewhere ?on the engine/radiator/ hoses?? may i offer advice? for now top up the systen by top of h/tank to level indicated on side of tank ?/ use a 25% mix of antifreeze to 1 gallon water then top up ? i would advise you have engine cooling system checked over for visible leaks?? by garage? asap all above is on presume that you do ??check the coolant level //oil level on engine weekly ?? as you should ! if you req further help with what garage discovers ? please keep update to us so we can advise?

If you are using straight antifreeze a 50 50 mixture will be fine, most parts stores now carry a premixed as well that you can simply pour straight in.

How to add antifreeze 2002 dodge intrepid

Open the container of antifreeze. Using a separate EMPTY gallon-size container, pour out HALF of the contents into the empty container, making sure not to spill any. Now, FILL the newly filled container with tap water. Fill the rest of the antifreeze with water, also. Now, you are ready to add antifreeze to your vehicle! Simply locate the radiator cap, (Don't touch it if it's hot!!) and unscrew it. Pour the desired amount of your mixed antifreeze into the radiator. Remember not to do this without proper knowledge!

How do I winterize my 2003 Winnebago Minnie?

You need to blow the all ware lines clean with a air gun nozzle. Empty/ drain all water storage units and pour windshield washer fluid or pool safe antifreeze in toilets and let stand. I would remove all batteries and stored with a 2Amp trickle charger until spring

Refilling radiator in 96 grand am 6 cly 3,1

The entire cooling system holds 13.1 quarts. This includes antifreeze and water. Install no more than 9 quart 5 oz maximum of antifreeze and the rest is water. This will give you a 70% antifreeze and 30% water in the coolant system. You will have minus 45 degrees F or colder protection. Minimum antifreeze added would be 6 quart 18 oz and the rest is water. This would give you the minimum protection needed for your coolant system. If you live up in the colder climates, I would go with the 70% to 30% ratio of antifreeze to water. This is for the 3.1 L 6 cyl engine only.

Can you drive a car with just water And antifreeze in it ????

Presumably you are referring only to the cooling system on your car.
You would normally mix the antifreeze with water before topping up. Your car hand book should tell you the % of antifreeze to add to the water based upon the lowest air temperature that occurs in the place you live.
In colder climates you need a higher amount of antifreeze in the water.
The cooling system is there only to help keep the engine cool when you are driving.

My fluid in my caravan froze last nite in my radiator what can I do???

It sounds like there is more water than antifreeze in you radiator. Let is thaw out, drain it, and replace the fluid with pure antifreeze.

What type of antifreeze does a 1988 Oldsmobile ciera use?

any type any colour ,its all the same eythelene glucol just sold in different cans and its all mixable together ,use a minimu, of 20% solution in a warmer climate and pure antifreeze in alaska and leave in all year round do not drain .Empty the cooling system every 4 yrs or so and refill with fresh antifreeze as it can go acidic with age which is the effect of combustion seeping into the cooling system ,happens to all engines even new ones so its nothing to worry about .

Need to know replacement time for a chevy 1500 master cylinder for brake system

This depends on the condition of the vehicle and corrosion amounts in your atmosphere, like salted road in winter, coastal climate, etc. Typically Chevy used a type of road tar to seal the old booster to the firewall and these are difficult to remove - I've used a 4 foot section of 2x4 to have leverage and not damage the booster or firewall. The brake system does not need to be opened so the master can be removed and flexed out of the way for space to do the booster - usually. On some models(depending on your climate) the lines are hardened and do not flex well at all, so the lines have to be removed, then the master, then the booster.. A flexible lined system should be about 1 1/2 hours and the non flex lines should be about 3, including bleeding the master and wheel cylinders and the calipers. Hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!!

I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. The hotwater

Check your antifreeze with a antifreeze checker to make sure it is at the right temp depending on where you live and how cold it gets there. If you have too much antifreeze the engine temp will not come up to over 200 and also replace your thermostat, making sure to realize they make them in different temp settings. Talk to people and make sure the thermostat you install is the right one for your climate where you live. Sounds to me as though your temp never comes up to what it should be. Also it could be the heater core.

If the AC compressor was working full time including when the heat was on in the winter, this would certainly cut short the life span of the compressor. Usually, the compressor won't come on unless climate control is calling for AC. If this was the case, the issue is more likely the climate control itself, either a sensor or the whole unit. Should have been caught when you had it diagnosed in the winter if this was when you had it in the shop. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

The check engine light is on in the car, possibly due to the wrong percentage of water and antifreeze put in the car. What is the correct percentage? Also, if this is the problem, does the antifreeze that...

There is no sensor for water/antifreeze mix. If its on your probably having some other issuse (your local auto parts store can scan the codes for free and tell you what the light is on for). But to answer your question the proper mix is 50/50. You can purchase the antifreeze already pre mixed so you only have to add it. If you have too much antifreeze the car will tend to overheat in the summer and if too much water the engine could freeze in the winter time. The mix is critical to your cars performance and reliability
