Hi, i work as a mechanic and have just had this code (p1647)on an 02 2.5 ltr x type. got the definition for 02 banks as well. as there are 2 sensors on each bank i took a look at the live data and it showed a slugish response on sensor two(after the cat). unplugging the sensor in the front cat brought up another code for bank two sensor two so this is obviously the right sensor. changed sensor and sent the car out, hope this helps, jon.

P1647 Linear O2 Sensor Control Chip (Bank 2)
I would say its the oxygen sensor on bank 2 and you would probably have to know which side is bank two either the left or the right

What is service engine light code 12 mean

Be advised that the MIL or CHECK ENGINE light can only perform a limited number of functions and it is a good idea to have the system checked with a scan tool to double check the circuit function.

  1. Within a period of 5 seconds, cycle the ignition key ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON .
  2. Count the number of times the MIL (check engine lamp) on the instrument panel flashes on and off.

The number of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a short pause between the flashes representing the 1st and 2nd digits of the code. Longer pauses are used to separate individual 2-digit trouble codes.
An example of a flashed DTC is as follows:

Lamp flashes 4 times, pauses, then flashes 6 more times. This denotes a DTC number 46. Lamp flashes 5 times, pauses, then flashes 5 more times. This indicates a DTC number 55. DTC 55 will always be the last code to be displayed.

2005 Hyundai Tuscon with the check engine light is on. The car is running fine. I had just put gas in it. The gas cap is securely fastened. I took it in for an oil change. The light still plagues me.

When a 'check engine light' (MIL=Malfunction Indicator Lamp) is turned on, there is a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set/stored in the ECM/PCM (Engine Control Module/Powertrain Control Module). This code identifies which engine management system component/function experienced a malfunction. Once you pull/read this code, you may begin diagnosis.

Hi, I have a 2007 Dodge Sprinter & am getting an alert code P2015. It's apparently a sensor malfunction. Can you tell me which sensor is affected by this trouble code?

Code Description onepxblk.gif P2015 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Signal Too Low - With Automatic Transmission arrow_right_blacks.gif Printer Friendly P2015 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Signal Too Low - With Automatic Transmission Possible Causes Setting Conditions
  • Check for air in the Fuel system
  • Check the fuel pressure
  • Check for leaks in the Fuel Supply system components
  • Fuel pressure solenoid has failed
  • Fuel quantity solenoid has failed
  • Fuel pump has failed
  • Fuel supply is contaminated
Engine running; and the ECM determined that the fuel rail pressure was too low for a given engine speed and load.

This code sets in 1 Trip(s).
This code will turn on the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) onepxblk.gif Malfunction Indicator Lamp The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) alerts the driver that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected an OBD II emission-related component or system fault. When this type of malfunction occurs, an OBD II Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set by the PCM. The MIL is located on the instrument cluster and is labeled CHECK ENGINE, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, or is identified with an ISO standard engine symbol (i.e., a picture of an engine).
Bulb Test
Each time the ignition switch is turned to the "on" position, the MIL indicator is illuminated for about 3 seconds (which is a function of the PCM).
MIL Lamp-On Message
Each time the PCM detects an Emissions related fault, the MIL is illuminated to inform the driver that the vehicle needs to be taken in for service.
  • Do not turn off the ignition switch during the test procedure.
  • All Onboard System Readiness codes are cleared if the battery is disconnected or when the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is cleared with the scan tool.
  • This drive cycle can be used to determine if the Readiness code for this Monitor will run and complete, and if the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will remain off after the vehicle is driven.
  • Operating Ranges: Whenever a range of values is provided, try to operate the vehicle in the middle of the range. For example, if the vehicle speed range is from 45-65 mph, operate the vehicle at as close as possible to 55 mph. If the Short Term fuel trim range is -20% to +20%; try to operate the vehicle near 0%.
  • Scan Tool Data: There are certain Parameter Identification (PID) values that must be within range before this Monitor will "run". It can be helpful to pull up those PID items on the scan tool so an assistant can view them during the test.
  • The Readiness code for this Monitor defaults to "continuous" or "monitoring" because this Monitor runs continuously when the engine is cranking or running.
  • This information is a representation of a Drive Cycle, and may vary due to software revisions to the PCM.
  • MIL is off.
  • Battery voltage between 11-16v.
  • Key on or engine running at idle or cruise speed.
  1. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  2. Start the engine and allow it to run at idle speed for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Accelerate at part-throttle to Cruise speed and maintain that speed for several minutes. Bring the vehicle to a stop, but do not turn off the ignition key.
  4. Check for any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) in memory. If any DTC's are set, refer to the appropriate trouble code chart to make the repair. If no DTC's are set, the test is finished. Return to the service bay and turn off the ignition key.

Malfunction Indicator light stays on on my 2006 Jeep Liberty.\r\nCar runs fine but light has stayed on when operating. I have checked gas cap. How can I turn off dashboard indicator light?

Mil light is coming on because it's registering a dtc (diagnostic trouble code) may or may not be evap/fuel vapor discharge like a loose or faulty seal in your gas cap. Have codes checked at an auto parts store (for free) and they can tell you what code/codes are showing. List them here for solutions. You can also have them erase code and if mil lamp comes on again you know somethings to blame and you need to check it out.

2005 Pontiac Vibe having trouble shifting 1st 2nd code P2716 MIL

This is most likely due to a bad solenoid pack in transmission. You could have tranny serviced and see if it helps. Poor fluid condition makes valves stick in those.

What does code 1-p0650 mean?

P0650 Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit Malfunction

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is located on the instrument panel. When the ignition switch is turned ON without engine running, MIL will light up. This is a bulb check. When the engine is started, MIL should go off. If MIL remains on, the on board diagnostic system has detected an engine system malfunction.

Possible Causes:
  • Harness or connectors (MIL circuit is open or shorted.)
  • MIL bulb may be faulty

Use a paperclip to jumper this and the engine light will flash codes. i think the connector is green but check a repair manual to be sure. there are other connectors that you don't want to mess with by accident
