90 Dodge Grand Caravan I want to put a thicker Radiator in this

This radiator in the unit is very thin. I want to put a thicker radiator in this unit. Dodge Grand Caravan 90, 3.3L What are my options? Anyone ever done this before? Seems to be plenty of room for a thicker radiator.

There is no reason to put a thicker radiator in that one myself. If it is running hot, keep in mind that there are a few things that will cause that to happen. 1) It has build up in the system and flushing will help some. 2) You need to replace the radiator cap with the radiator since they can be leaking off presure...a pressure test should be done with a pressure tester to make sure that there aren't any leaks at any hoses. You also need to consider what shape the heater core is in and that can be determined by taking the top hose off of the core on the firewall (keep in mind that this is a very old hose and may need to be cut off with a razor to avoid damaging your core, then the hose will need to be replaced.) this point you will need to start your vehicle and let it warm up and see what the flow there is...chances are it isn't good and replacement is necessary. The one thing that brings concern with owner of these vans is the temp gage. It runs around 5/8 and they think that is too hot, but this isn't abnormal on a hot day.One more thing that can reduce the heat to the vehicle is a transmission cooler, but make sure that the return line to the trany route through the trany cooler. Note that boiling point is 212 degrees, but under pressure with no leaks, it reaches around 250 degrees. This is why vehicle usually run hot when there are leaks.

My 1999 caravan is blowing cold air

Check the water Coolant level in the coolant reservoir and also remove the radiator cap, which tends not to be on the radiator any more and check it is full. Also burp the system by removing air licks buy sqeezing the radiator hoses when the system is hot. Remove the radiator cap before you do this. You also need to check the thermostat for correct operation as it might be stuck closed. Remove it, put it in a pot of warm water put it on the stove and you should see it open before it comes to a simmer.
