Question about 1998 Dodge Avenger
When I start the engine and it is cold, the transmission goes in limp mode then, when is hot, I shot the engine down and restarted and works fine. Also, sometimes, when the temperature is lower than normal, while driving, it goes in limp mode, I just turn the ignition key off and back on and then it works fine. I keep doing this until it reaches normal temperature and then it works fine.
Is the vehicle's Check Engine Light on? It should briefly light up when you turn the key on (before you start the engine) to show that the light is working correctly. Based on what I've read I believe you should have one or more trouble codes. A place like AutoZone will read the trouble codes for you for free, and you can look them up here - http://www.engine-light-help.com/generic-check-engine-light-codes.html
