2o amp cty fuse which, from the research ive done, helps to work dome light, door sensors and radio. not sure if this helps but have an alarm hooked up to door sensors (used for dome light) and so not sure if that is causing a promblem. also have subs and amp hooked to radio but fuse on radio not blown. unplugged radio harness and tried a fuse and still blew it, unplugged dome light bulb and still blew, so that mean it the alarrm system, or just wiring for door sensors/
With Dome Override button Out, dome light will stay on approx 1 min. (after shutting doors) before automatically shutting off. Make certain that courtesy light wheel is not rolled all the way up. This keeps dome on constant. Dome light override pushed in keeps dome off when opening doors.
Glad you solved it.

This is serious current flow and way way over what should be flowing in the circuit. You have a dead short somewhere which is likely to be beneath the dash panel. possibly the printed circuit board behind the instrument cluster. There may be something else sharing the fuse too which has the problem and not in the fuel gauge at all.

If the fuse blows when you start the car their is a bare wire somewhere in the wiring system that is grounding out when power goes through the system. Thier is a possibility of it being something else that is on the same fuse. You will have to trace the wires to find out what and where it is exposed. Your switches should be tested also. The switch that turns the light on manually and the one located in the door jam itself that turns the light on when opening the door. You should bring your car to a mechanic who is qualified in electrical dianosis. I hope this helped you out. good luck..... It would be appreciatted if you could rate my answer. tThanks....MIKE-

This is most likely a problem with your Passlock anti-theft system which is known issue with these cars. Passlock is a "passive" anti-theft system, which means that it will disable your ability to start the car if it thinks there is a problem. The three components that can cause this are: 1) Ignition Switch, 2) Ignition Cylinder, 3) Body Control Module (computer). The dealer is the only one who can solve this problem (unless you can bypass it, but it is not that easy). Estimated repair from most dealers is $800 and up.

On the fuse panel does it say they are on the same fuse?

okay well thank you for all the great ideas fr a solution but i ended up figuring it out actually. so at first i was thinking it was the ground or maybe short in alarm or a wire somewhere, but i went and tlked with a dude at audio express and he said the same things about the ground and mentioned maybe a problem with cig light whether it be a wire or something, but then he also gave me some very important info about how on a car they had they tried for hours trying to figure out what it was and the guy had the same prob, well come to find out some change got stuck in cig lighter and was causing it to ground and so instantly causing the fuse to blow. sure **** that was the case with mine. a penny had acidently got in the cig lighter causing it to ground, a fuse and penny richer, the problem was fixed. lol
Matt Day. You are a blessing for posting your solved issue on here my man. I was have trouble with courtesy fuse, repetitively blowing fuse after damn fuse, after installing the two cargo lights my 1994 GMC Sierra has... I've been stressed to the max the past week, with not being able to play my aftermarket radio w/ subwoofers (since the radio is tied into the courtesy fuse circuit) not too concerned with my dome lights and floor lights... After reading your solution, I remembered I put a push style cigarette lighter I found in a junk yard in it (I figured would be convenient to be able to use) sure enough it was a different style of one, causing it to ground out my circuit. I took it out and replaced the fuse with no more issues!! Thank you again for your stress and money saving time putting your solution on here!
