flip the air cleaner cover for more air flow change plugs and wires , replace pcv valve cap and rotor if still not fixed you might have to get the carb rebuilt if it is 1st year fuel injection spray injector cleaner in and add a can of fuel cleaner to your tank
I will suggest some cheap areas to try first.
1.Wiring connections to your computer under the dash.
2.Check wiring to fuel pump.
3.Check black boxes under hood. They have relays and terminals may corrode.
4.Ignition switch, sometimes with heavy keychains the contacts can loosen.
Take it to Autozone or Oreillys for a free scan. When you say car cuts out, does anything work like lights, horn, radio? Please post symptoms and if anything has helped you.
your having a weak spark issue you will need to remove your distributor to replace the pickup or the coil is breaking down sometimes this can be the egr but be careful removing this as not to break the intake hope this helps
p.s i had one with 2.9 and cured this problem on mine pick up in dist was weak but this could be emission also have any codes? good luck
it sounds like the new starter is faulty , I would suggest having it checked by a service shop or a starter rebuild shop, most parts supply stores dont charge for this test but you will have to remove the starter from the truck.
sounds almost like the newer vehicles equiped with cam sensors instead of the distributer system i had a similar problem with an 87 ford bronco 2 it would stall out right around 2800 rpm i replaced the control module usually mounted on the distributer at least mine was and it fixed it right up but as for ur truck im not sure they are only like 30 bucks at autozone or something worth a try right??
