My car quit after my daughter parked in the driveway. It does not even try to move in any gear. I checked the oil level with engine off, and with engine running and the level does not change. Does not seem to be pumping any fluid. Is there something external that can keep transmission from pumping? Or is there something common that occurs. Up until it quit, there was no indication of trans problems, sluggish shifting, etc.

Just a couple of things to check if you haven't compare the smell and apearance of the tranmission oil to so new, if it looks dark and smell burned you probably have a bad transmision, clutches or burned up. Does it whine or make any noise? a stopped up filter will do this. also is it full when warm on the dip tick runniing in park?

What could the problem be with 1999 villager wont go forward or reverse?

I forget the name, but it could be the shift connecttion. It the connection point behind the shifter in the car and the transmission. The port disconnected mine in my car cause they couldn't figure out how to shift it. It basically put the car into nuetral. No forward no reverse. But engine runs fine.

Will it reverse? Checked the transmission fluid level with the car running and engine warm?

Cars cranks and runs but dies when put in gear

If it is a Stick shift or an Automatic, the engine speed needs to be at least 750 RPM, after the gear has been selected. Either Forward, or Reverse. Get the Engine "Warmed up", and make the necessary adjustment on the Throttle speed adjuster screw.

1999 ford taurus has reverse but no forward gears could transmission range sensor be the problem

I have been hearing about the trans planetary failing on 96-02 taurus/sables. My personal 98 sable 3.0 expired that way.

Ford Taurus won't go into gear but will go in reverse

I would check the fluid level because low fluid can cause this problem. If the fluid is full, when was the last time the ATF was changed? If the fluid has not been changed regularly then you may have some sludge or particles fouling a valve in your valve body.

1999 Ford Taurus will not shift out of 1st - I do have reverse

Unplug your speed sensor. (located on top on transmission on left hand side can be reached from right side) If the problem is the same replace the sensor this should fix your problem.

1999 ford taurus engine runs but when I put it in drive or reverse the car won't move. What causes this?

the forward clutches in the transmission have failed, this requires the trans to be overhauled.

1996 Ford Tuarus

You really have to think a bit about when those sometimes are. Is it only when the engine is already warmed up? Is it only when the engine is cold? If you have a tach on the dash, what is the real high idle speed of the engine? How many rpms? Does the transmission shift hard or smoothly?
