Question about 1994 Dodge Intrepid

Opening driver's door does not light interior lights

Hello, Friends,

When opened, all the doors of my 1994 Dodge Intrepid properly light the interior lights except the driver's door (though it works sporadically).

In older cars, there was a button on the door frame that activated the interior lights of the car but I can't find any such button in my car. Am I missing something? Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you very much.

when I open the doors all the interior lights come on except the top front console lights. I feel like they should but can't remember if they used too. I replaced the bulb but that that didn't fix the problem. What should I try now?

I have a 1993 dodge intrepid so i think this might work on yours too.
i had the exact same prob nothing different.

yes your correct, its the driver door switch. in most cars it looks like a stick that goes in and out but want your looking for is a black usually round with a tiny tip at the end. when your open the drivers side door its under the lock hinge. i suppose its the only black round plastic thing protuding outside that has two screws at both ends, up and down.

in most cases id say its worn out and its easy to replace just unscrew it, and carefully remove it, without pulling it too hard, or the fuse wires will drop inside the fram. (speaking from exprerience) but it takes time and patience plus slim fingers and a few stick or twizers to get it back out. if you do drop it.

let me know if this helps. it took me a while to solve this problem. at first youd think it just need a little grease to get it loosend but it must be worn out.

I have a 1996 Dodge intrepid and the interior lights stay on how do I fix this?

Test your door switches. You'll see them where door closes against them ( push switch ) at door post. Sometimes testing one door at a time by opening door and pushing in hard by hand will turn light out, if defective one not found that way, you'll have to remove and test one at a time. I'd start with drivers door first.

Why don't interior lights come on when door is opened

The plunger button may be stuck in. It's around you door frame or on your door and sometimes will rust in. Does your light work manually? If so then it has to do with this plunger If plunger moves in and out freely, make sure it is coming out all the way. If not, then it may be a fuse gone. In that case, locate the dome light fuse in the box and check it Hope this helps

1999 Intrepid will not start. 2.7 engine. There is no sound at all. I do not hear the fuel pump prime, ther are no dash lights except for the door open and odometer, no wipers, no power to radio( after...

check your fuel pump relay, and the fuses, and other relays, they are normally, located in a black box on the drivers side , under the hood on your car.

One suggestion is to open your driver's side door, unhook the rubber boot that covers the wires in the door jamb. gently start pulling the wires apart, if they actually move, then you have one or more severed wires. This is due to normal wear by opening and closing the doors.

Another suggestion is that is possibly could be a bad body control module.

I hope this helps

2000 Dodge Intrepid Interior Lights work sporadically

Probably a faulty door switch or loose door. Check which door appears to stick out past rest of body more than others, or try pushing in on doors & see which one appears loosest, and adjust striker to tighten it up a bit, and see if that cures it.
