Question about 1998 Jeep Cherokee

1998 CHEROKEE SPORT 4.0 INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS

The vehicle only will start on the first crank if it has been sitting for about 24 hours. Otherwise if it is shut off for any reason for any length of time shorter than a full day it has to crank over and over again even before it will start back up. It seems longer than 24 hours is the magic amount of time.
So far I have replaced the fuel injector seals, crank position sensor, and fuel pressure regulator on the sending unit trying to chase down this problem. Is the most likely culprit the fuel sending unit itself? Or any other suggestions?

2000 jeep Cherokee sometimes runs fine shut it off wont start but turns over fine later it will start

Ok. You didn't say what size engine was in the Jeep, but based on your problem, I'd bet its the 2.5L 4 cylinder. They had a classic issue with intermittent failure of the crankshaft sensor. This will cause the vehicle to just shut down without any other indications, Sometimes it will restart immediately, sometimes it can take minutes to hours to restart. The sensor is easy to replace and not very expensive. It is located on the drivers side of the transmission bell housing.

1999 jeep cherokee sport cranks wont crank

Most likely is intermittent in starter solenoid relay

Next most likely is key switch start connection intermittent. a tester will have to be used to find where the power is being lost from the start terminal of ignition switch to starter solenoid pilot connection to the main starter output power from solenoid to starter main contactor.

My 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L is very difficult to start if it has not been run in the previous 6 hours. Replaced ignition coil but didn't solve the problem. After sitting overnight it

Low fuel pressure.
You need to check the fuel pressure on the first crank and watch it as it is running.
Requires a special gauge.
If it were just a starting problem I would say it could be a pump relay, but not if it runs rough for 5 min.
Might be a dirty filter or problem in the tank.

1998 Jeep Cherokee 2.5td Ltd: intermittent cranking problem.

It sounds like you need to get the starter motor either repaired or replaced. Due to constant trying to start the car, it maybe that the battery is discharged a bit, causing the engine not to respond as usual, so you have to give more throttle. First , get the starter sorted and charge the battery, then you will see how it goes . Hope this helps

99 cherokee sport starts hard after sitting over night or 3 to 4 hrs. starts right away if key is turned on and off2to3 times represurizing the system

Could be related to the fuel system. What have you replaced or checked so far. I would look at the battery and the charging system. Also look for a fuel leak, pump pressure, and the vehicles maintenance/repair history.

1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport Ignition Lights Come on but wont crank

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.
