A mechanic would check for voltage from the gauge at the sending unit connector at the tank. The sending unit grounds the gauge on the dash.
Not sure what the humming noise is, the computer controls the gas tank venting by a solenoid and the vapor canister.

SOURCE: Gas Gauge not working properly

First...how do you get 25 mpg...I get 21 or so!!!!  Additives will never work on this.  The price for the pump is $150-175 for an aftermarket unit.
I just did the tank job for the sender.  Get an aftermarket pump/sender.  DO NOT ORDER from RockAuto for this part...their listing is wrong.  They send the gasket...which comes with the replacement.  Replacing the unit is relatively easy:

  • Have less than 5 gals of gas in the tank.
  • Get the driver's side of the car in the air and support it.
  • Remove plugs to the left of the tank on the bottom of the vehicle
  • Start car and allow gas pressure to subside...car will stall
  • Remove the fill pipe from the left rear of the tank..there is a valve on the fill pipe which will contain all but a few drops of gas
  • support the tank and remove the bolts that hold the tank straps and lower the tank.
  • lower the tank and remove the vent hose at the rear of the tank so you can swing it out
  • after swinging it out, prepare to remove the unit from the top of the tank retaining the connector snap ons for the new unit.  Clean the area around the pump to remove the possibility of contamination.  Tap the ring sharply counterclockwise to remove it from the tank.
  • Remove old and install new, pressing the unit into the tank...be sure to use that new gaaket they gave you.  Tap on ring, swing tank back, reconnect hoses, raise and bolt up.  Plug in.
  • Start the car after turning key and waiting for 15 seconds to start so pressure can build.
I did it in 3 hours.  If you have help for liffting and all that, probably 2..2 1/2

SOURCE: 2000 Dodge Intrepid with PO455 code and stalling.

A code 455 most likely one or more of the following has happened
a loose or bad gas cap
a non-conforming gas cap
other leaks or damage pieces in the evap system

Inspect the evap system for cracks or breaks in lines listen for vacume leaks or strong gas fume smell and fix all lines you find that are damaged ..I know you say you put a new gas cap but make sure it a conforming cap..Hope this helps

Testimonial: "Thank you!! I will def. tell my husband to check it out!! Thats the only code that comes up. So I hope this will help."

SOURCE: 2006 Dodge Gr. Caravan. Loud humming noise upon

Misalignment of the belt, incorrect belt, worn or loose tensioner, Too tight of an adjustment (many service centers do this on purpose so when the belt breaks in it becomes properly adjusted, I do not believe in this philosophy), The belt is actually one long belt called a serpentine belt.....

SOURCE: The gas gauge on my 2002 chevy venture is not

Hi:
Your tank sending unit is bad. Unfortunately, it is part of the fuel pump assembly, and the part costs around $400, give or take. plus installation labor. It is an all too common problem on GM vehicles, as I have had to change it on my last 2 GMs. If you do an internet search you will find plenty of others in the same boat!

Changed fuel pump twice and fuel gauge still doesn't work. 2005 Dodge ram 1500 4.7L. PLEASE HELP

When the fuel pump was replaced was the fuel level sending unit replaced also ? Or was it part of the new fuel pump module ? If the sending unit was also replaced an the gauge still isn't working you have a faulty gauge or wiring problem , maybe . Your best bet mite be to have a qualified repair shop check it.

How do I change the fuel filter on 2002 Dodge Intrepid?

It is part of the fuel pump module in the fuel tank. You will need to drop the tank to replace it, but that is rarely necessary since it sits in fuel all day long.

My cousins 1994 intrepid ran fine till it got tio my house and then it wouldent start i know its a gass issue but the gas filter and gas pump work. i tested them both after that you need the gas pumps...

First there is no such thing as a Dodge Intrepid that is equipped with a carburetor. ALL Dodge Intrepids are equipped with electronic fuel injection.

To find out if the fuel pump is working correctly, you must check the fuel pressure by connecting a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure test port located on the fuel rail.

The specification for your vehicle is 330 kPa (43 - 53 psi)

2002 intrepid 2.7 Im getting no crank from the starter and I dont hear the fuel pump kicking on when the ignition key is turned on, I do get power to the radio and dash, Ive checked fuses and replaced...

Under the hood, there should be a fuse block. Remove the cover and there will be a 20amp(i think) fuse that protects the fuel pump and starter circuit. I've run into this problem many times and every time it ends up being the starter that blows the fuse.

Ive replaced the fuel pump twice in two weeks with a used 99 dodge intrepid fuel pump and both times they crank the car one time and then quits

the car cranking over has nothing to do with the fuel pump
The car will crank all day(with a good battery and no fuel pump
If the cranks one time and then quits you need to be looking at the starting system NOT fuel system

if you have disconected the battery for more than 15min then see if you have a reset on your fuel pump it would have run with the fuel already in the line

Fuel gauge chime

I suggest that you did not disconnect the warning buzzer. The reason why the buzzer goes off is not because you are getting low on fuel, but fuel is what keeps the fuel pump cool and keeps it from burning up. I'd keep in connected because it's cheaper to add fuel than replace a fuel pump.
