Thank you, the lights came on today and I do not have a manual for my car(bought used). Now I know what is probably wrong.

When both lights stay on with the car running it usually indicates an alternator that is not charging at an acceptable voltage level. check the battery voltage with the car running, if it is under 13.5V you should replace your alternator.

for your car its not so bad to replace labor wise, but the part itself could be a bit pricey, good luck!

I have a 1999 Nissan Altima and my Brake light just came on recently, my question is where do I check for brake fluid? Where is it located at?

the brake fluid reservoir is on the drivers side of the engine back by the firewall. I believe the cap is yellow and should say brake fluid or DOT3 or something simular. Use only DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid from a sealed container.

You can also consult your owners manual to find it.

Battery light and brake light stay on .I started engine and disconnected the negative and it died immediately .1993 altima

you need to replace the alternator, that will take care of the battery light, and dyeing when removing the cable... replace that and we will go from there on your brake light issue.
hope this helps

On my dashbord of my 1999 altima has the red light for the battery and the brakes.

check if the brakes are low...
the battery light mostly comes out because of either the battery of the alternator...mainly the alternator...
so you need to test them both with a volt meter...the battery should be giving 14+ volts when the car is running...
Good Luck!

Brake warning light has stayed on, on my Nissan Altima 1996. It has been on (when the car runs) for about 4-5 months. What's wrong?

if the fluid resevoir is still full i would check the emergency brake to see if it is engaged one or two clicks, which would not cause the brake to slow or stop the car but would cause the light to come on..

Dashboard warning brake light stays on continuosly nissan altima

Try this, Since you are applying the hand brake. Manually pull up on the emergency pedal and see if the light goes out. If this does work then you could have one of several problems. but, I am thinking that you might be able to adjust the brake tensioner if this car has one.

Nissan Altima 1995 Brake Light swith staying on

I know this is outdated but for those with this problem which i had too, it is a rubber stopper that attaches to the brake pedel itself to keep the switch depressed on my car for there is 2 switches and there is 2 rubber stops attached to the brake pedal. this being gone will cause the brake lights to stay on all the time.
