Question about 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis

1 Answer

The front drivers door window has fallen off its track and fallen inside the door panel. My car is a 1995 mercury marque. I'm trying to take off the door panel. PS I'm a female so this is new for me . It's also pouring down rain and I need to try to do this tonight so I can drive to work in the morning. Thanks Joanne

My car is a 1996 mercury grand marquis. I've taken off the front passenger door panel and it appears the cable is off so I can't raise the window. How do I get to the cable? I don't have a schematic to see how.

You'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. If needed, you can pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything inside the door

Power window will not go up

If your window will only go up partially, the window might have fallen off it's track, in which case, all you have to do is unscrew the screw in the door handle and pry the plastic off your door to put it back in. If this is the case, be sure to tighten the screws that hold the window in its track.

If your window will not go up at all, then my guess is that the motor inside your window is bad, and you should take the door panel apart the same way I mentioned above, and either buy a new one from a retainer or online, or go to a junkyard to get another one. The new one should go together the exact same way it came part.

Front passenger window has fallen down into door

The window either came unattached from the window regulator or your power window motor's gears inside are stripped, either way you need to take the door panel off to diagnose the problem.

1995 MERCURY GRAND MARQUISE driver's side window

There will usually be a screw or two in the arm rest/handle area that you have to remove, then you have to pull on the edge of the cover at various spots around the door. There are plastic push-in pieces that require some force to take off.

you have to remove the cup behind the door handle. rmove screws aroun the door pull. get a screw driver and pry the trim panel away from the door carefully. There is a plastic christmas tree clip every 6 inches. when the bottom & sides are free, lift up the trim panel to get it out of the track at the base of the window.

Driver window will not drive up or down.

if the motor runs, than it doesnt have to be replaced, your window is not secured to the track. those plastic pieces are what holds your window on the track. Replace those, you can get them for less than 20 bucks at the parts store
