Question about 1991 Toyota Camry

91 camry A/con not working

My mother's a/con stopped working and when I checked the a/con lights on the dash had went out so i checked the fuse and it was blown so I replaced it but it worked only for a short time before blowing again. The machanic told her it needed a new compressor which costs $1100 but i'm wondering if it could be something else I could fix for her?

thanks, so to confirm I should disconnect the wiring and then replace fuse and turn on the a/con without reconnecting the wiring and if fuse does not blow then it is the compressor?

Unfortunately does sound like the ac compressor but for peace of mind just disconnect the wiring from the compressor and try renewing fuse again and see if ok this will confirm its the compressor if still blows then is not compressor and will require further checks for a short in the wiring.

I have a 1990 toyota camry, the fuse for the dashboard lights, glove box light & rear running lights(they are all the same fuse). blew, I replaced it and all was fine. A week later again the fuse...

Depending on the year. I.e. 89-91 camry, all have a yellow god fuse in the driver side of the trunk space behind liner.it is about 2''*3" cant miss it, being only yellow part. It is usual cause of certain outside lights completly out, have had to change mine 2 times in ten years, junkyard is best at 20$, new is near 200$.

What could it be when everything on your dash stops working

Engine size and trans would be hepful information.......fuses in the cab? this is a Camry right? Check the 3 main fuses in the fuse box under the hood, then check ALL fuses.

91 camry tail lights stop working

Check with a test light to see if you have power at the tail light socket. If you don't, check the fuse. If the fuse is burnt, that's your problem. If it's not, check for power in the wires. Keep testing from back to front unil you find power. If one is broken or shorting out, the most likely place to find it is under the car, near the back where gravel stones can damage them.

I have a 99 camry the went dead and i tried to jump it the horn blows good the head lights comes on but when i turn the key it says nothing the dash lights doesnt come on its like its not getting any power

There could be several reasons for your problem:
  1. Check your connections for tightness and corrosion. A corroded battery cable/post will diminish the current going to the dead battery.
  2. Check jumper connections
  3. Dead battery; the worse off the battery is, the more time it will take to charge the battery sufficiently enough to start the car; a completely dead battery with bad cells will never recharge sufficiently enough to hold a charge and start the car on a regular basis
Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.
