My car ran poorly when it rained ( 2004 Hyundai Accent ) When we had a massive fog in December it was 54 it started backfired and would not start.I replaced all the spark plug wires and it started and ran perfect. It was cheap and easy- I am just the lady next door and changing the wires was easier then putting back together a food processor. Also a note to newer car owners_they MAY NOT HAVE a distributor cap. My fix 28.00.

Well, rain and snow is water, so it could be water is getting into something preventing the car from starting. maybe you have loose wires under your wiper grill at the bottom of your windscreen and the rain is shorting the electrics out, or even your doors could be letting rain inside shorting the electrics as your speakers terminals are not really protected with anything just a plastic clip. and of course electric mirrors if you have them?
common sence says to me you have a leak somewhere by you saying when it rains or snows. check all the roof, sun roof, door paneling, under the bonnet, boot door, all the elctrics you can get access to, and look for wet patches or puddles, if you see any near any buttons, wires etc you can be sure your electrics are shorting out. dont know if it helps but hope its somewhat helpful to you

Truck will not start when it snows or rains. turns over fine, just wont catch fire. any suggestions?

Hello pdstom

One the main items to check with this engines is the cap and rotor for corrosion on the electrodes.

This horizontal cap is prone to corrosion and moisture form the snow and rain can cause a no start situation.

If corrosion is found replace cap and rotor.

RUNS GREAT,BUTWHEN IT RAINS OR EVEN GET WET IT WONT RUN,TURNSOVER BUT JUST WONT START???

distributor problem I draped a piece of plastic over the distributor from the wiper splash pan so when you open the hood all the rain or snow doesn't dump on distributor also change cap and rotor and consider a reman distributor if this has been happening for a while simply every part is probably corroded good luck

Car stalled while running

Check under the back seat for an access panel to the pump. Might be the pump or just the level unit. Good luck.

1989 volvo DL won't start in wet weather

Check the distributor cap. It may have a fine crack in it allowing moisture in causing what u describe. Let me know how u make out.

Car wont start when it's wet

replace your spark plug cables. Moisture in the air is settling on the spark plug wires which does not allow the spark to travel down to the spark plugs.
