If your timing belt belt broke, you have damaged the valves and the cylinder head will need to be removed and rebuilt, or replaced.

Hello hjolana: My name is Roger and i will help you. I have attached a picture of the timing marks. The camshaft mark aligns with the mark at top of cover behind the cam gear. The lower mark aligns with the notch on the block and the crankshaft key way is at 12:00 o'clock. See the picture. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Faulty timing belt on a 1993 toyota 4X4 hilux with a 2.8D motor.

Ready? Remove all the stuff in the way of the old belt. Radiator, pulleys, belts, covers, have a new tensioner to put on? How about that water pump? Get a socket big enough for the crank pulley bolt, you just want to turn the engine over a little. Get the new belt with marks on it, they come in real handy, and when you are ready to let the old one go, bring the motor around to tdc. There is a mark on the crank pulley, when that aligns, the cams should be on their marks as well, clamp the cams from moving, they are under spring tension, they won't go far, but just in case, remove the belt, line up the new one with the marks on it to the marks on the cams and the crank, pull the pin on the tensioner, and you should be all set. Put it all back together, fill the radiator back up. Hope this helps.

Replace timing belt on Volvo S60

There is no room for error...... Zero clearance. If off one tooth it can and will bend valves. if you are one that just feels the need to get alittle dirty or just can't pay for the service, then get out your Haynes out and turn to .....Tune up, and look at replacing timming belt. Get a cam gear tool that locks them into place so as that they will not move when u have them lined up. make sure they are lined up with marks as said in book. then make sure crank as well as all marks are lined up acordingly. make sure belt marks are lined up with everything. i would reccomend using a volvo belt though cause it will have all the marks on it.However other company's make good quality belts also at a fraction of the price. So it is really up to you.
Good thing when doing timming belt is to also change out your timming belt tensioner. YES do this it will save you a engine in the long run. it is a moving part that will go bad, it will freeze up and snap timming belt. rip out teeth in thebelt and bend valves. So as a gen rule...When you change timming belt, Change belt tensioner at same time since you cant just change tensioner without changing or getting timming belt off. Remember to use your HAYNES. It is your friend and will save you money in the long run. Good luck... Hope this helps you.

1993 Toyota Camry V6 Timing Settings

Get a T belt from toyota. It has 3 white lines on it and and arrow mark. 2 lines are solid and one is broken. Put the arrow facing away from the engine. The cam gears have a dot punched into them near a certain tooth. This is where the solid white lines will line up with. The crank gear will have a dot also. It will line up at 90 degrees from the top, towards the front of the car. This is where the broken line will match up with. With the belt installed with all lines on their proper dots and arrow away from the engine, you valve timming is correct.
Of course you need to remove and compress the tensioner also. I assume you know this already since you didn't ask.

1998 xc70 volvo timing marks

fFirst of all you must replace the timing belt with new. The second problem you have is it sounds as if you have not set the engine, to the correct position before you removed the belt, it is very difficult to set the marks without everything moving together. If you move one camshaft without the other one moving in unison you will bend valves. I also need an engine code for the correct timing marks. as there are 2 options for this vehicle. It may be cost effective at this stage to employ a good technician to finish the job for you. But if you can give me the engine code i will send the info.
