Go to the auto parts store and buy a small battery charger, hook the positive red cable to the red battery positive cable and the black cable from the charger to any good ground spot (bare steel or aluminum) on the engine.

I had a dead battery last night, I boosted the battery and now the altinator is not charging. Is there a fuse or a relay that might have blown?

Boosting a dead battery is an unsafe act

You always attempt to charge with a battery charger

Can not charge a dead battery with alternator either

Unless it is 2 years old I would replace it

Have your battery tested / charged.
Totally dead battery may take some extra time to charge being hooked to cables.
When a battery is "hard discharged" as you described...sometimes they never recover and require replacement.

Battery seems to be dead jump staring didn't help 2005 jetta

Battery can be so dead that it won't take a jump. If it is the original 5 year old battery, you would be well advised to scrap the battery. If it is newer than 5 years old, charge battery on a battery charger for enough time to properly charge it. Then test it. Still dead? Scrap battery.

That's all I can offer you as you don't say why you think you have a dead battery.

Battery in Jeep Grand Cherokee dead this am and less than 1 year old. I have a Everstart 100 battery charger plugged in and on the car. How long does it take to charge the battery. The charger is plugged...

How many amps does this charger put out????
A small trickle charger will take forever to fully recharge a dead battery, you'll need to have a battery charger that can put out enough amps to properly charge a dead battery. To clarify, the chargers sold at Sears, the large square types on wheels are the best for charging dead batteries and they also have an amp meter telling you how much the battery is accepting. After you charge your battery, you should be around 12.5 volts to 12.7 volts. DO NOT OVER CHARGE!!!

Battery

A battery with a dead cell will not charge. Remove battery, take to Auto Zone get it checked. If battery is dead, replace with the best and biggest CCA available. Only cost $1.00 to go first class.

Battery Charge

The best way is to get a voltmeter and check the voltage of the battery with the truck running and not running. When the truck is running, the voltage across the battery terminals should be aboput 14.9 volts (showing the alternator is charging the battery). With the truck off, the battery voltage should be about 12 volts (showing that the battery is holding the charge). From there, you should be able to tell which is bad.
