Problem for Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra

Car won't start

I have a manual hyundai elantra GLS 2003 and it refuses to start sometimes. I've replaced the starter, fuses in main fuse in front and under dash. I had gotten into an accident before it started doing this, minor damage to the front end, $1000 in repairs. I have also replaced the battery, had the alternator checked as well. It was fine. No battery drains anywhere. It sometimes does it more often when it's below half a tank of gas, or when its very cold. Any suggestions? I'm getting fed up with getting stuck places and have to compression start it....

It's a wiring issue. You should check the heavy guage wires for rot spots, they're notorious for that problem and typically rear their heads when the temps change seasonally from hot to cold or cold to hot (spring and fall)

The problem is in the starter system circuit(s). Check/inspect the condition of the battery cables & connections to the starter & grounds - replace/repair/correct as needed. Next, inspect/check the starter clutch pedal position switch - repair/replace as needed. Next, starter relay operation and connections. Of course, inspect/check all wiring connections. The burglar alarm relay is 'normally closed' contacts unless the alarm is activated - in which case the alarm must be 'reset' (deactivated) to re-close those contacts. You mentioned front end collision damage - definitely inspect all wiring there - repair/replace as needed.

- Here's the diagram of all your circuits involved in the starting system. Recommend you inspect all wiring which may or may not have been damaged in the accident. Especially check the clutch pedal position switch, burglar alarm relay, starter relaly and battery cable condition/connections to all grounds & to the starter.

- Inspect/check all wiring (including condition & connections of both battery cables) and all ground connections, relays & switches. Especially check wiring harness in the area where the accident/collision occured.
