Can you either show me a diagram/picture of the water pump is, or tell me exactly where the water pump is located on a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo? I would appreciate it very much, thank you for your time.
I have never removed the water pump itself, but I can tell you where it is located. Pop your hood, remove the plastic cover from the engine (if its there).
Now, the waterpump is located on the passenger side of the engine, where the serpentine belt is.
To get to it to remove it you will have to remove the alternator, the heater hoses, and heater hose housing. The fitting running from this housing to the engine block is a 90 degree plastic elbow, be careful not to break it. The housing should slide off with some coaxing (AFTER you remove the 3 bolts holding it) I had to use so spray lube to loosen it up.
If you look under where the heater hose housing was located, there is your power steering fluid resevoir/pump To the right of that there is a big bell-shaped pully. That is your water pump.
This was a quick rundown of how I got to mine to check it out, Your engine might differ, I have a '98 z34 monte
