Question about 2001 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

2001 hyundai sonata 2.4 dohc, cylinder 3 misfire code

My Sonata will idle great, but when trying to accelerate it will sputter and cut out. it will get up to speed, it just takes a minute. It will run fine at cruising speed. I have replaced plugs, coils, fuel filter and a crank position sensor. The exhaust does not smell lean or anything. Appreciate any help!

Tried testing the igniter also i would look into the injector, that will cause a single cylinder misfire and probably is your problem?misfires are not noticeable at higher speeds, which im sure you know but i would go that route, could have a pinched injector or a stuck one. one easy way to test is swap 3rd injector with another and see if that one starts misfiring instead, another rought is to get a cheap auto stethoscope and put it to each injector to hear if its opening and closing, compare with others. good luck.

These are all cylinder misfire codes. I'd look at sparkplugs, coils and dirty injectors.

2001 hyundai sonata stalls at highway speeds. Had code read and code said misfire on all 4 cylinders. Why?

dear friend- can you be more specific with the conditions and fault codes.this sounds like your TPS sensor is instructing the ECU to cut the feul, therefore there must be another fault code.

Look for a vacuum leak somewhere. This is the most common problem for a high idle.
