Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee
I start the car and goes fine, but a few minutes later on the road it stop suddenly and the gear gets locked the car gets disconnected. After turning off and on again, it starts normal and the behavior continues. I get the message on the dash board that says "check gauges" what should I be looking for? is it the air filter? oil pressure? coolant pressure? Thanks In Advance
Anyone know what a fair price would be to install a new serpentine belt for a 1996 Jeep Cherokee? After the belt was screaming I notice that the battery indicator was only reading between 10-12. Im assuming that since my belt is glazed and old its not providing enough juice from the alt to the battery. Im trying to figure out how much this will cost me and whats fair??

The check gauges light will come on anytime the key is in the ON position and the engine is NOT running, so it's NOT a problem related to the gauges when the car shuts down. This can be verified if the light goes off when the car is running. Filters and pressures will not normally cause problems like you are describing anyways. It sounds like an ignition problem related to the ECM (computer), as I've had similar problems in the past with the same vehicle, this will probably not be something you can fix yourself.
