2000 Chevy Malibu wiper delay and intermittent won't work.

How do I know if it's the switch or motor if the delay and intermittent wipers wont work but the high speed will?

I have the same problem in my 2000 Silverado. The most info I can get on this problem is that the module on the motor is gone and replacement of the motor is necessary. However I don't buy that option. Any luck?

I have the same problem on my 2004 malibu except my wipers cut out completely when we were hit with the big storm a few weeks ago. I had been having problems with them coming on at odd times and then not coming on at all when I needed them. Now they just don't work at all. Any suggestions?

one guy on another site said he found a capacitor loose on the board on the control module. He soldered it back on and poof everything worked. Some say the multi-fucntion switch on the steering column could be it too. Who knows, lots of things it could be.

I had this problem (wipers only work on high) with my 2002 Chevy Malibu and had to replace the 6 amp diode (22059733) on the wiper control board. It is connected to the back of the wiper motor and is held on by 3 torx screws.
Radio Shack has them for $2.75 6A, 50V Rectifier Diodes (4-Pack) Model:276-1661

Ya i have a 2000 mal myself that sounds like the switch because if it was the motor the high speed would not work either.

2005 ford escape wiper and washer has no power. cant hear it engage when on but was working a week ago. how can i troubleshoot it and find the fuse

Hi Justin , Do you know what a SJB - smart junction box is and where it is located on you escape ?
Windshield Wiper Operation
The smart junction box (SJB) supplies power to the multifunction switch from the SJB fuse 25 (20A) when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position. The multifunction switch supplies power to the windshield wiper motor for the HIGH or LOW/INTERMITTENT input, depending on the multifunction switch position selected. The SJB also supplies power directly to the windshield wiper motor from fuse 25 (20A) when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position for RUN/PARK operation. When the multifunction switch is in the LOW, HIGH, or INTERMITTENT position, power is supplied to the windshield wiper motor, which moves the wipers off the park position. Once the wipers are off the park position, an internal switch in the windshield wiper motor switches to the run/park position which directs power to the wiper switch then back to the wiper motor. This maintains power to the windshield wiper motor to complete the wipe cycle. When the cycle is complete, the internal switch in the windshield wiper motor switches back to the park position. If the multifunction switch is in the LOW or HIGH position, power is supplied from the multifunction switch and another wipe cycle starts. If the multifunction switch is in the INTERMITTENT position, the windshield wipers remain parked until the internal relay in the multifunction switch supplies power to the windshield wiper motor. The internal relay supplies power after a time delay that is determined by the 1 of 9 intermittent switch settings.

The windshield wipers on my 2001 Chevy Venture wont work in the "delay" positions...could this be a fuse/relay problem?

Most likely a little circuit board that controls the wiper delay, or the wiper switch itself has gone bad and has an intermittent break.

Wiper delay does not work

Intermittent wipers: Inside the wiper motor (of most cars) there is a diode or diodes. They burn out or they break. If you replace the diodes the intermittent wipers will work again. If you cannot replace the diodes, replace the wiper motor completely (used or new)

Winshield wiper delay intermitent module making noises

The wiper delay is in the steering column. It's a small box about 2 x 2 inches with a wiring harness attached. With the testing procedures I found below, you should be able to figure it out. I found wiper delays on eBay for around $10 to $20. Good luck.

WINDSHIELD WIPERS CHEROKEE, COMANCHE & WAGONEER 1. POWER INPUT Remove circuit breaker. Test battery side of circuit breaker. If battery voltage is not present, repair open to splice. Test across circuit breaker terminals. Tester reading should be zero (0) ohms. If not, replace circuit breaker. 2. GROUND Connector A unplugged. Test terminal G. Tester reading should be zero (0) ohms. If not, repair open to ground. 3. INTERMITTENT WIPERS Ignition switch in ACCY. Remove delay module and plug connectors together from the module. If wiper operate in LO and HI speed modes and mist (washer) is working, if wipers and mist operate, replace intermittent module. If not go to step 4. 4. WIPER/WASHER SWITCH Ignition in RUN, wiper switch position as indicated, back probe switch side of connector A for standard, connector B for intermittent: Test connector terminal E-wiper switch in LO and mist/intermittent. If battery voltage is not present, replace switch. test connector terminal C-wiper switch in HI. If battery voltage is not present, replace switch. Test connector terminal F-wiper switch to OFF. If battery voltage is present until wipers stop and then voltage drops to zero (0), system is working fine. If this does not occur, replace switch. 5. INTERMITTENT WIPERS Connector B unplug. Test across terminal A and D while rotating switch from minimum to maximum delay. If tester reading is not between 0-500 ohms, replace switch. Test across terminal A and G while rotating switch from minimum delay to maximum delay. If tester reading is between 0 and 500 ohms, replace wiper module. If not replace switch. 6. WIPER MOTOR Ignition in ACCY, wiper switch position as indicated, probe connector D. Test connector terminal 1. If resistance is no zero (0) ohms, repair open to ground. Test connector terminal 4-wiper switch in any position. If battery voltage is present, replace motor. if is not repair open from fuse panel. Test connector terminal 2-wiper switch in LO. If battery voltage is present, replace motor. If not , repair open from wiper switch. Test connector terminal 2-wiper switch in HI. If battery voltage is present, replace motor. If not , repair open from wiper switch. Test connector terminal 5-wiper switch OFF with voltmeter connected. If battery voltage is present until wipers stop and then voltage drops to zero, system is OK, replace motor. If not, repair open from wiper switch.

Wipers do not work

Guessed it's a V6. Power comes from 20A fuse 14 in the fuse block. The wiper/washer switch controls the wiper motor for HI/LO operation but an intermittent wiper control module affects the delay interval you select with the wiper switch

My 1996 chevy corsica has a wiper switch that is either slow or really fast would a switch from another 96 corsica that has the delay work with my 96 corsica? I found one at junkyard, dont want to get...

You will not be successful replacing just the switch. Cars with delay wipers utilize different wiper motors, and wiring harness's than cars without.

2000 chevy blazer.....front window wipers in-op....tried changing the fuse but still wont work

The wiper motor could be bad...the only wat to know is to check for voltage at the wiper motor. If the fuse is good and you have 12VDC to the motor...then the motor is bad. If you don't see voltage at the motor, I would suspect a bad wiper motor switch.

Good Luck,
Mike...

The wipers have a control module in the wiper motor. That is what is wrong. On that model you will have to replace the wiper motor . Good Luck

WIndshield Wipers only start on fastest speed

There are three things involved in wiper operation, switch, the delay circuit board and the motor. If you select winshield wash do the wipers operate normaly? if this is the case then the motor works and delay is operating < not a guaranty on delay but it does say the circuit is operating. If wash cycle does not work then circuit not working< could still be switch causing this> if you know someone or you yourself can remove switch it needs to be ohmed to know that it is operating and if it is then voltage during operation in all settings needs checked at wiper motor. If no voltage found in inoperable settings then delay is not working. While investigating problems like this always inspect wiring as you check from point to point because could be damaged wires as well.
