I would try replacing the relay in case it shorted, otherwise you have to trace the wires to the short. you can get wiring diagrams out of a chilton's at any auto store

SOURCE: Radiator Fan continuously running with engine off, discharging battery

It is not the fault: for long time Renault has that concept, that is to prevent engine oveheating when coolant circulation is suddenly stopped.

Radiator fan can continue to work up to 10 minutes after engine is off. You should worry about it only if it wouldn't stop even after 10 minutes.

SOURCE: The electric radiator cooling fan will not turn off

As long as the fan eventually shuts off this isn't a problem, the fan will continue to run for a bit after the car is turned off, once it reaches a set temprature it will turn off.

SOURCE: electric fan continues to run even when car is off

OK, This should get you started on the problem. You need to remove the Fuse first to stop it running. Locate the fan switch and check that it is not permanently on (Short Circiut). If it is, Fit a new switch.
If not, then you need to locate the Fan Relay Switch and see if this is stuck on.
Thats assuming you do not have a short circiut in the wiring loom.

You can drive without the fan but not in slow traffic, you must have airflow across the radiator to avoid damaged. Do not allow the car to overheat.

Why do both radiator fans run on high any time the engine is running, or cold

There are certain positions for the climate control system that will cause the A/C system to activate. When the A/C is on, the radiator fans automatically run to provide airflow thru the condenser coils in front of the radiator. This could be the issue. Turn off the climate controls and recheck.

2004 ford thunderbird< radiator fan keep running

Hi Kevin. Since your fan run even when the engine is cold,my advise is to go direct to the temperature sensor, which actually is the main culprit for causing the confusion to the ECU. Since the temperature sensor does not work correct, the message send to the ECU is wrong - like is sending that the engine is hot - the ECU order the fan to start. Also there is another possibility for the fan relay to remain stuck and leave the fan to work constantly.

Good Luck.

2004 sunfire cooling is always on when the car is running

The cooling fan is controlled by a temperature switch located on the radiator or on the engine. When the temperature of the coolant exceeds the switch temperature rating, the switch closes and energises a relay that switched a voltage to run the fan and it will continue to run until the coolant temperature drops back below the opening point of the switch. In your case, you may need to have the cooling fan replaced.

The Auxilliary FANS keep on turning ON even if the engine is stop or no ignition please HELP

The fans will run even if the vehicle is off. This is to keep the engine from overheating
after it is shut off. (residual heat). Now if the fans run continuously after the
vehicle is shut off and do not shut off in say, 15 minutes then the fan relay may
be stuck or the temperature sensor has failed. The fans may also come on after
a long drive several minutes after the vehicle has stopped as heat builds up
because there is no air flowing across the radiator. They may even be controlled
by the engine computer in some vehicles. You can have a code check
run at many parts stores for free.
Also, check the coolant
level with the vehicle off and totally cold at the radiator itself to be sure that
it's not low (Even if the reserve tank is full you can still be low creating hot pockets in
the block). Make sure the overflow tubes are connected to the reserve tank
I have seen them fall off and drain the radiator slowly without being noticed.
Hope this helps.

Check for proper cooling fan operation (it's an electric fan behind radiator). It might even have a dual cooling fan. On most systems, one fan will come on and run continually anytime the a/c is on. This is commanded on by the ECM. If the cooling fan is not running, then there is no air flow across either the a/c condenser nor the engine radiator. The engine will therefore run hot and the compressed gas (freon) in the a/c cannot cool at the condenser - thus it will not cool the cabin properly. If the fault is indeed a cooling fan problem then you can proceed to troubleshoot that issue. Come back here for help if needed to sort it out.

Over heats after 10 minutes running. I have taken rad out and ran water through it, put it back in and when it is running the bottom hose collapses.

Is the cooling fan running? If so, drain the radiator with the heater control set to hot. Install a new thermostat, and fill the system with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Bleed all air from the system by using bleeder screws if equipped, and by starting the engine with the radiator cap off radiator full. Watch for escaping air bubbles and keep the radiator full. When you see no more air escaping put the cap back on. If the fan is not running then that is your problem. Turn the A/C on and the fan should run continuously. If it does not the fan motor is more than likely bad. Check the fuse for the fan. If it is good, Apply 12 volts directly to the fan motor to check it. If it runs then replace the thermal relay.

Radiator fan runs when engine is off

some cars do start up the fan when turned off after they have been driven. as long as it is not starting when the engine is cold there is nothing to worry about. the reason it took 15 mins to shut off is that with the engine not running the water is not being pumped
round the engine thus cooling faster. hope this helps

My cooling fan on right side of my radiator runs all the time even when the car is off

problem sounds like either the thermoswitch in the radiator or the cooling fan relay under the dash... test by removing wires from thermoswitch and test for continuity at the terminals with a meter (radiator cold)... if you have continuity the switch is bad... if not it's the relay (fused closed... replace it)... Hope this helps...;-)
