Question about 2005 Chevrolet Impala

2002 Impala will not crank.

My wife's 2002 Impala will not spin over. I had the battery tested and it is okay, but the engine will not spin over. When I turn the ignition switch on, it does nothing, no hum, no click, nothing. Could it be the starter?

It could be your ignition switch. I have the exact same car and had that same issue, I ended up having to have the ignition switch replaced. It would only start 75% of the time and the odds got worse as the weather got hotter. I was reading online that it's very common with the Impalas. Never had that problem again after getting it replaced. Good luck!

2002 chev impala will not start, will not crank over and lights will go out when i try and start it

Have the battery tested if no good replace. Check for power at the starter cable and then while someone holds the key in the crank position check for power at the trigger wire of the starter. If you have power but no crank or click then you may have a bid starter or the engine is seized. If no power on the tarter little wire which comes from the ignition switch make sure you fuses and relay is good and that your ignition switch is working. If the battery tests good have your alternator checked as well. The cluster may act erratic if battery is low or bad.

The first thing you need to do is verify that your battery and charging system is in good operaing condition. I have seen sulfated batteries that would have enough power to turn the starter motor, but not enough power to operate the computer engine control system while the starter was cranking. If that is OK, then I would recommend scanning your onboard computer system for fault codes, then diagnose and repair accordingly.

2002 Chevy Impala

This sounds like a bad battery or a bad connection at the battery, the guages are the key, check the cables for a white power, this is battery acid corrosion and must be cleaned off, auto zone or kragen auto will test your battery for free.
