Re: Car wont start in the rain
Hi, your disributer cap must be letting moisture in or it has a hair crack.
REplace it with a new one & also spray some sort of water repellent (WD40) onto the new cap inside & out.
Also smear some grease around the rim of the cap to stop mositure getting in.
This cured a VW that plagued us every time their was either rain or fog.
Also check you rotor arm as well for hair cracks or just replace it with a new one.

it sounds like the computer is getting wet; on a clear dry day, wash the car and check for any leaks up around the windshield before drying it off especially if the water coming in on the passenger side behind the glove box because that is where your computer is located
check on the passanger side of the car to see if the floor is getting wet as well because it sounds as if your computer is getting wet behind the glove box while at home on a nice day wash the car and check it all over for leaks because the computer or something is getting wet in the car it may be a bad seal around the windshield

I had a similar problem with starting the car. My ignition Switch was somewhat broken. The key to switch connection became compromised inside the switch on the steering column and it wouldn't turn. My mechanic put a button ignition switch under the dash. No more problems. Also If the firewall gets wet it can cause a short in the ignition and it wont start until it dries. Always check the integrity of your gaskets. especially the gaskets on the firewalland around the windshield wiper base on the driver side! Good Luck! Ree.
