Question about 2004 Renault 181
I HAVE A RENAULT CLIO 172, RECENTLY A BURNING SMELL IS COMING INTO THE CAR WHEN THE HEATERS ARE ON, I HAVE CHECKED THE WATER/COOLENT LEVELS AND ALL OK,
I HAVE ALSO REMOVED THE HEATER MOTOR AND THAT WORKS AND SMELLS OK THERE ARE NO LEAVES OR ANYTHING STUCK TO IT. ANYTHING ELSE IT COULD BE ?
The same thing happened to my '99. I found an 'off' brand heater core locally then seached the internet to find direction on how to install. I don't remember the link, but someone had posted pictures of the step by step. Although I must say the sticking point for me was removing the screw holding the heater core to the pipes coming from the front of the car then removing the core holder.
It took me a couple of hours, not really knowing what I was doing, but went real smooth. It's fixed for around $140! And NO MORE ANTIFREEZE SMELL!!

change the control switch ,but newer models use a module and it could be this module playing up it controls the a/c and heating .if its the module then iam sure its dealer only as its a renault and no doubt will require reprogramming

its up behind the glove box there is a block connector to be removed then a few nuts facing down as soon as you take them out it should just fall out so keep a hand on it.
