rtm (read the manual) alldata dot com. and there is no limits to damage, only looking and measuring as you dismantle works. what will be, will be. on most cars. 1: remove bumper skins. 2: remove bumper mounts. wires, etc. bingo.
Its actually pretty easy to replace the rear bumper. I don't think you should have any problems doing it yourself. If I remember right I think there is only like 6 or 8 nuts that hold it on. 2 one each of the side and a couple in the middle. Just need to pull the spare tire out of the way. There may be a couple of gps antenna connections to disconnect.
