Question about 1994 Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

My headlights went off while driving in 94 Caravan

While driving, my caravan's headlights went off. Thank GOD I was 2 blox away from home. They flashed on again for a split second. THEN the dashlights flashed on and off, there was smoke from the dash, and the car stopped running.
The headlights have recently been replaced because of deer hit.....but they have worked fine.Last night I adjusted the beams up a bit.

Maybe--it's on the dash--but would that keep the car from starting, besides the fact it killed the engine? I was going about 5 MPH after they went off (parking lites were still on) then they flashed on and off, REAL BRIGHT then a little smoke inside from the vents, and the car died......could it be a fuse? It's GOT to be a short,, right??

Sounds like the headlight switch is bad. Is it on the dash or on the steering column?

Dodge caravan 2000 3.3 L. 40 amp. cooling fan fuse blows in 5 sec appox. new fan relay , new fan motors ,new heat senor. thanks tom war

My 96 Caravan had this problem as well as the passenger headlight would not come on. It turned out to be pinched and shorted wires under the battery box where the wires plug into the power box and computer. It happened the first time driving away from the dealer the day I bought it! It got worse from there.

most likely problem is the wcn or wireless ignition node. it is the part your plastic key goes into. i have seen all kinds of problems corrected by replacing that. you need a Chrysler scan tool and your vehicles 4 digit pin to program a new one.

Glad too hear your making progress, sounds like your dealing with a reasonable shop too. For future reference, take notes when your vehicle acts up. The more information you cn give your technician the easier it is to be fixed. Good luck, let me know how you make out.
