Question about Pontiac Fiero

I have no tail or marker lights, every time i hit the park light switch the fuse blows.

Sounds like you have a short. More than likely it is the swith. If not, check the wires in the trunk.

Exterior Lamps
The exterior lighting system consist of the following lamps:
• The Headlamps
• The Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
• Fog Lamps
• The Park, Tail and Marker Lamps
• Exterior Courtesy Lamps
• The Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps
• The Stop Lamps
• The Backup Lamps
• The Clearance Lamps

Park, Tail and Marker Lamps
The park, tail and marker lamps, including the license lamps, are turned on when the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK or HEAD position or anytime the headlights are requested. The underhood fuse block supplies battery positive voltage to both the park lamp relay switch contacts and the park lamp coil circuit. The body control module (BCM) provides a ground or control circuit to the park lamp relay coil circuit. When the park lamps are turned on the BCM energizes the park lamp relay. Current flow is from the park lamp relay to the FR PRK 10 A fuse, RR PRK 10 A fuse, LR PRK 10 A fuse, and the TRL PRK 10 A fuse, and to their respective park and marker lamps. The front park and marker lamps are grounded at G100. The rear park and marker lamps are grounded at G401. The license lamps are grounded at G410. If the headlight switch is left in the ON position, the inadvertent power control feature will turn off the park, tail and marker lamps approximately 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position. If the driver places the headlight switch in the ON position after the ignition switch has been turned OFF, or if the ignition switch is in the ACCY position, the park, tail and marker lamps will remain on until turned off or the battery runs dead.

Keep blowing tail light fuse 45 on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?


There is an issue, you have a dead short in the circuit, no quick fix for this. You must first get a wiring diagram of the entire circuit and then follow it until you locate the shorted wire or component.

Do your headlamps work ?
Park/Marker/License/Tail Lamps
Voltage is applied to the turn/headlamp switch at all times. When the turn/headlamp switch is in the PARK or the HEAD position, voltage is applied to the following components:

The park lamps

The marker lamps


?€¢
The tail lamps


?€¢
The license lamp

The front marker lamps are grounded through the turn filament of the respective front park/turn lamp. The front marker lamps light as a result.
The automatic lamp control function turns on the park lamps and the headlamps. This action occurs when the ambient light sensor determines that the exterior lamps should be turned ON based on the amount of available light. When the BCM grounds the park lamp relay, voltage is supplied directly to the park lamps, bypassing the turn/headlamp switch assembly. When this action occurs, the following conditions exist:

The automatic lamp control relay is grounded.

The headlamps turn ON. Refer to Headlights/Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Circuit Description .

I have a 2007 Chevy HHR..the tail light don't work the bulbs workI have turn signals and brake lights..no owners manual in car. check fuses can't locate the fuse for tail light is there another place


Your talking about the rear park lamps, but, do the front park lamps work?
Note the picture.
Underhood fuse box, 68 is park lamp relay, 69 is park lamp fuse.

they are dual filament bulbs so the tail light filament might have blown and not the stop light , replace the bulb to check

Tail lights wont come on keeps blowing fuse blows 10 amp 15 amp and even 5 amp fuses


put a 12 volt light bulb in place of the fuse. It will stay lit until you find the short circuit. Check tail and park light & side marker bulbs first.

How about if you just turn parking lights on, not headligths

THE TAIL/MARKER LIGHTS, GO FROM THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE REAR FOR THE TAIL LIGHTS & TO THE FRONT FOR PARKING OR RUNNING LIGHTS. ALL THOSE LIGHTS ARE ON THE SAME CIRCUIT, { BROWN WIRE } THE BRAKE & TURN SIGNAL WIRES GO FROM THE STOP LIGHT SWITCH & FROM THE TURN SIGNAL/HAZARD SWITCH. NO RELAY IN THE TAIL/PARK CIRCUIT. CHECK THE FUSES WITH A GOOD FUSE TESTER.

Blows fuses when parking lights are turned on. Headlights work fine even running lights.


If it only happens when you turn the switchto the parking lights then it is most likely the swich that is the problem. Light swich failure appears to be a common fault with fords

I agree. I would start by inspecting from the tail lights wiring and move up. You will have to remove interior pannels to see the harness.
