I would really have to recommend that you use a HIGH mileage synthetic blended oil.

As with many older cars, the seals and rings in the engine might have never been replaced and will begin leaking compression and thereby giving you a significant loss of power and acceleration. Also with older engines, when oil is allowed to seep past the piston rings into the combustion area of the block where "fuel meets the fire" it will create a gray smoke in your exhaust that is not good for the environment. You see oil does not have the same ignition temperature as vaporized fuel does and there for does not burn off completely when the spark plug ignites during the compression stroke of the engine cycle.

As for a synthetic oil I would suggest, I like using Castrol Syntech blend. Now it will cost you about 2x what a regular quart of oil does, but it will be well worth it.

I would make a suggestion though, if you have not had the engine cleaned, do yourself a favor and purchase a quart of Wynn's Engine Flush and pour it into your engine prior to performing the next oil change and run the engine for about 5 minutes (DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR!) then drain the oil and install a NEW high quality oil filter and fill the oil back to where it should be on the dip stick.

The Wynn's Engine Flush is designed to breakdown and remove the sludge and varnish from the inside of the engine, from the cylinders and the values as well as from the oil pump and oil pickup screen. The new oil filter will trap the sludge from the engine within a few hundred miles. After about 500 miles, I would suggest that you replace the oil filter again with a new one. You do not need to drain and replace all of the oil again. Just make sure that you replace the oil that drains out of the filter with new synthetic oil.

You should see a significant increase in fuel mileage and engine performance. While you are performing your next oil change, be sure to replace the FUEL FILTER with a new one as well as the AIR CLEANER. I would also suggest that you go ahead and replace the PCV Valve located on the top of the engine on the valve cover. Over time the PCV valves get clogged with dirty oil and debris and can affect engine performance by robbing the engine of power.

Hope these tips help you out.

Cheers,

Keith

PUT ABOUT HALF OLD OIL I HAD STORED IN TRANNY CONTAINER IN TRANNY

Improper fluids in a automatic transmission can cause severe results.
Drain the transmission fluid and change the filter.
If the car was running at the time you put engine oil in the transmission, I would also flush or drain the torque converter.
Replace with the proper amount and type of fluid.
