Question about 1992 Pontiac Sunbird

1 Answer

My 92 sunbird will run untill it starts to get warm and then just dies. I when I try to start it after it dies and the car will just keep turning over and wont start. it sounds like the fuel pump doesn;t come on to. but the next day when I boost the battery and turn the key the fuel pump comes on and the car starts up and runs again untill it gets warm. and cuse of this problem I replaced the fuel pump and the relay (I think it was the right Relay. I don't know exacly what what one is the fuel pump relay) and the problem still presists..

Thers a oil psi senser that wont let the fuel pump run at low psi when the car worms the psi gos down ,the fuel rely only runs the pump for about five sec as a primer then the oil psi senser takes over thirs a plug righi behind the oil fliter for the senser ,un plug it and put ajumper wire across it as a test ,you may need a oil pump

have the ignition control module checked, also have the crankshaft sensor checked they both could cause this problem the more common of the two is the ignition control module under the coil packs.

92 gmc c2500 turbo diesel. starts then dies after a few seconds.

Sounds like the Pump Mounted Injection Module.. Starts, dies, Starts dies... Not a fun fix.. but atleast it's just under the intake..

Bleeding brakes on 92 pontiac sunbird

start at the rear wheel on passenger side, then the driver side rear, then bleed the passenger side front then the driver side front, don't let the master run out of fluid, check at least after each wheel, bleed until you don't have air spurting noise and u have a solid stream of brake fluid out the bleeder port, u can buy a brake bleeder wrench from any parts store for a few dollars...

Hard to keep running when warm 92 eagle tsi

The INFAMOUS DSM Hot Start Problem

Here are a few things to try: 1) Block off your EGR valve. Sometimes these fail, and when they do, this is what happens.

2) Change your vaccum hoses, especially the one going to the fuel-pressure regulator. Sometimes this one leaks and creates problems for the FPR.

3) Change your plug wires. I'd use some MagnaCore wires. They're less $$$ than the stock ones, and they're 8.5mm opposed to the stock 6mm. The stock wires are no good, especially when raising the boost.

4) Clean your throttle body REALLY well. Make it spotless, including both sides of the throttle plate.

5) Clean out your intercooler. Do this by taking it out, dump about a gallon of gasoline into it, then shake it around and dump out. Repeat process until gas coming out is clean.
