2005 dodge grand caravan transmission will not shift. radiator fluid rusty color

Check your coolant for any trans fluid mixing,& ck the trans fluid for coolant, the radiator may have an internal leak (trans/ coolant), If they are mixing within the rad, radiator needs replacement. If OK then there may be 2 separate problems. The cooling system may need service or the rad is rusted and there is a separate trans problem. Ck for fluid mixture first!

The 2000 dodge grand caravan has two lines running from a cylinder just to the right and bottom of the radiator. it looks like power steering fuel runs through

if their metal, the could be coming from transmission fluid lines, are they going into radiator ? one @ top & one @ bottom of rad . their cooling lines from trans, supply / return . if rubber lines, they go to a transmission cooler , looks like a small radiator, rectangular , supply / return. power steering has no cooling . these lines don't come from engine, power steering has power steering fluid NOT TO BE MISTAKEN FOR TRANSMISSION FLUID, TOTALLY DIFFERANT !!!!!!

Changing fluid - is old out - new in

96 dodge grand caravan trans fluid in radiator

Your radiator has a cooling chamber built into it where your transmission/transaxle lines are attached. If that chamber/tank gets a crack or hole, transmission fluid will start to pump into your cooling system. This will cause damage to both your cooling system as well as your transmission. To repair this problem, you will need to either replace the radiator, or install a SEPERATE AUXILLARY trans cooler kit for 1/4 the cost of a radiator. This MUST be seperated from the radiator, or you will continue to have the same problem. This is a temporary fix as eventually the breach will get large enough to start leaking coolant if it doesn't already. Once you replace the radiator, the auxilary cooler will still be a nice upgrade for your vehicle.

My 97 grand caravan runs great when its cold, but when it heats up the ****** down shifts to first and usually stays there. sometimes it will jump back to 3rd. I noticed that it only does this when the...

It's actually your transmission fluid getting hot! Check trans. cooling lines going to radiator or aux.trans.cooler. Check fluid on dipstick with engine running, if you fluid is burnt looking not bright red anymore. Have your fliud flushed-changed and have service tech flush lines through radiator. You may solve problem this easy, but worse case senerio if it has done this for awhile you may need to rebuild trans. and get new cooling lines. My chrysler did the same thing but it cost me $1450.00 for the rebuilt trans.. After my trans. was rebuilt by the 35 years experianced shop,I found that the cooling lines were clogged and it burntout there fresh rebuild. The warranty I got paid for the second go around rebuilding trans.again. That company had to eat the costs. Now everything shifts great! Drove it on vacation! Make sure if you get trans. rebuilt they replace the governor sensor and solenoid sensor if your trans. is electronic like my 95 is.

Leaking fluid

Only so many places these trans 41 TE can leak on the vans. Lines on top, speed sensors(input, output)one is below the lines the other is to right of the lines. Dipstick tube, trans solenoid gasket, Oil pan & extension gasket. Wipe off & clean area very well. Lines leaking, check clamps first before replacing. Speed sensor leaking replace o ring, Dipstick tube replace o ring, Trans solenoid replace gasket, Extension plate replace gasket If the pan is leaking you change the trans filter & put a gasket on the pan. The book says RTV on the pan, but FelPro make a gasket for the pan $6.99. Use a Chrysler trans filter!!!! O rings for sensors, tube around $3 each, trans solenoid gasket $3, extension gasket $10, Filter $11 + gasket $7 & 4qts trans fluid if doing the filter or extension gasket.

Trouble with the transmission solenoid 2000 dodge caravan. Automatic transmission. The check engine light code read Transmission shift solenoid. I need suggestions on how to fix this myself

USUALLY A SHIFT SOLENOID DTC IS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE TRANS SOLENOID PACK ASSEMBLY..LOCATED ON OUTSIDE OF TRANSMISSION..YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING PACK..CLEAN ALL DIRT/DEBRIS FROM OUTSIDE OF PACK..YOU DON'T WANT ANY DIRT TO ENTER TRANSMISSION..SOLENOID IS A SMALL BOX LOCATED ON SIDE OF TRANS FACING FRONT OF VEHICLE..YOU MUST REMOVE TRANS COOLER LINE HOSES FROM FITTINGS ON TRANS..REMOVE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..UNPLUG PACK..8MM SCREW HOLDS IT..3 BOLTS HOLD PACK TO TRANS..YOU MUST CLEAN ALL GASKET RESIDUE THOROUGHLY BEFORE INSTALLING PACK..I'D RECOMMEND GETTING SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THIS BEFORE IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DOING THIS..I HOPE THIS HELPS

Po1776 and po700

po700 is transmission, If getting po1776 Solenoid Valve Switch. The Transmission Solenoid Pack needs to be replaced. This is on the top of the trans in the front, just below the lines & input speed sensor. $180 part # 5140429AA with gasket. 90% of 41te trans problems are with this ******, Gasket leaking $3 part at dealer. This can be done by any home mech

Transmission Not Going into Overdrive

First check and make sure the fluid is full. The most likely cause is a failed solenoid pack. Circuit codes normally mean something electrical not mechanical has failed. The solenoid pack is on the outside of trans pretty easy to replace.
