First you are going to have to remove the bottom of the dash board. Then look at the duct work and take it apart (unscrew the plastic black tube that runs along the bottom of the car) look for the door flap inside the duct work... use penetrating oil to lubricate and check the springs. Turn on the heat and check to see if it is opening and closing. Then turn it to AC and do the same!
Hope this helps!

1998 chevy blazer heater problems. wont switch from defrost to floor. stuck on vents right now. how do I fix this problem.

Most likely either the vent switching mechanism is dirty and won't switch the flaps -or- most likely the vacuum that is used to turn the vent flaps is either leaking and not pulling enough vacuum. You will have to get underneath the dash near the center, to check and see if you can manually move the vent flaps. If so, then most likely it is a vacuum leak in a vacuum line to the flap mechanism.

I have heat but no dash defrost or floor heat

it could be a bad switch... it could also be leaking vacum lines (vacum is what operates the dirictional doors). it could be a stuck door, or bad hinge. it could also be loose ducts underneath the dash.

My '99 century's heater/air conditioner will not switch settings(def.,floor, vent, etc) it will change speeds and temps only. it blows a little from the defrost a little from the vents and a little from...

sounds like there is a blockage in the heater ducts or the doors that open & close to direct the air are stuck or broken. maybe a bad blend door actuator

What is a blender/ it is suposed to a part of the heater area

The "blender" would refer to the blend actuators that change the flow of air from floor to vent to defrost or combinations. Properly working blend doors will allow you to direct air to the dash vents, the floor, the defroster, the floor and defroster or the floor and dash vents. If it is not working the heater will still work but you will hae no control oer where the air flows.
