Is it hex (like an allen screw) or is it a Torx or Torx plus? Torx are serrated.

How do I fix my mazda tribute front brakes

It's either brake fluid hose or caliper itself, see if caliper piston is easy to push back in, if yes, replace the hose, if not replace the caliper,

There is a special tool to compress the piston back into the caliper on odyssey honda 2005 what is it

Why worry about buying a special tool when the job can be done with a G clamp. After removing the caliper from the rotor remove the outer brake pad and leave the inner pad where it is against the piston. Now with the G clamp place the end of the clamp on the back of the caliper and the adjustable part onto the brake pad slowly wind the clamp dawn against the brake pad which will in turn push the caliper piston all the way back into the caliper. Then remove the brake pad and replace with new ones. Replace the caliper onto the rotor and tighten. Then pump the brake pedal with the engine OFF.

Replace rear brake pads 2006 Chevy Impala

Hello, to replace the rear brake pads follow the following steps:

1. Lift the Chevy Impala with the jack and place it on jack stands.
2. Remove the wheels with a lug-nut wrench and set them aside. The lug-nut wrench can be found in the trunk of your Chevy Impala.
3. Remove the caliper with a ratchet and use a bungee cord to hang the caliper. Do not let the caliper hang from the brake hose, as the hose might break and cause fluid to leak.

4. Remove the brake caliper bracket from the steering knuckle with a ratchet. Set it aside.

5. Remove the break rotor from the hub. The rotor might require force to be removed; if it does, use a hammer to hit the rotor in the center, where the lug studs are located. Take care not to hit the studs.

6. Remove the new rotor from its packaging and use brake cleaner to remove the grease from the rotor. Grease is applied on the rotor in the factory to inhibit rust during storage.

7. Install the new rotor onto the hub.

8. Install the caliper bracket with new brake pads onto the rotor and fasten it to the steering knuckle. Use a ratchet to tighten the bolts.
9. Open the master cylinder reservoir so you don't break a seal while compressing the brake caliper.

10. Compress the brake caliper with a C-clamp, so that the caliper can fit over the new brake pads. Install the caliper by securing it to the brake caliper bracket with a ratchet.

Thanks

remove the caliper, by removing the two holding bolts, then use a old brake pad against the pistons and a c clamp and push piston all the way in, next is to clean and lube pad mounting surface and the caliper slide pin, then install new pads on bracket then caliper and tighten caliper bolts, heres a diagram to help you,98c6b31.jpg150490f.jpg

When replacing the rear pads on a 2002 Impala. How do you retract the emergency brake on the clipher ?

Sometimes them thing stick. You may have to either tap it back or remove it to take the calipers of.And also remember that when pushing in the cylinder on the caliper it needs to be rotated clock wise and pushed in at the same time to retracted. hope this helps you..Have a great day..

Calipers will not go back on

If you are putting pads on the back brakes, you need a special tool for that, the pistons turn in, not like the front where you can push them in.

Brake pedel goes to the floor

pump the pedal until it goes hard this is common when you push it back all the way just needs a few pumps to get it to extend back to the pads making contact with the rotor, is there any fluid leaking anywhere? is there brake fluid in reservoir?

Rear brakes on 2005 F-150

If you can't compress the piston with reasonable ease...you may have a frozen caliper. It does not "screw in" like GM models. It either presses back into caliper or it doesn't. If it's that hard to press it back in...get a new caliper.
