Question about 1999 Chrysler Sebring

Gauges, Power top, Wipers and power door lock won't work.

The instrument cluster and the above will not turn on. All fuses are good. The display for temp etc. shows CCL. The car is a JXI convertible..VIN #3C3EL55H4X1536153

    My gas gauge, speedometer, temperature gauge, tachometer, mileage, and gear selecter (the whole instrument panel) would go off and I could hit the dash and it would come back on. At the same time it would go off, the ABS light would come on. It finally went out for good. After that happened other things became involved as well. The overhead gauge is half working. It shows the temp but doesn't show mpg, dte, ect. Also my automatic door locks do not engage anymore. I am assuming that these rely on information from the panel in order to work properly. Since this didn't go out suddenly, could it be a lose ground wire and what do I need to do to check and see if that's the problem? Thanks!

Try resetting the body computer,with key away from vehicle disconnect battery for 3 minutes then reconnect it and wait 30 seconds then switch lights on then switch ign on 5 secs later, sure worth a try.

2003 Chev Malibu. Radio inop with key in on position, auto systems not working, I.e. daytime running lamps, auto lock and drivers unlock, fuel and temp gauges not working.


Have you had vehicle check for DTC'S diagnostic trouble codes . Check fuse's an relays , find wiring diagrams to see what controls these systems ?
Radio/Battery fuse , fuse G 10 amp located in the right instrument panel fuse box . Do you know where this ?

Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal it will either turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) or the headlights. Any function or condition that turns on the headlights will cancel the daytime running lamps operation. With the headlight switch in the OFF position, the headlights will either be turned ON or OFF, after an approximate 30 second delay depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The HTR A/C IGN fuse in the underhood junction block supplies ignition positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the low beam circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and grounding the low beam circuit. Ground is provided at G101. The DRL illuminate the low beam headlights at a reduced intensity. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position and the parking brake is released. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.
DRL operation in Manual Transmission equipped vehicles will occur when the ignition switch is in the ON position, and the parking brake is released. - check fuse's an relay first.

2002 Chevy Tahoe, all gauges and Speedometer stopped working......please help


Check voltage and ground circuits for instrument cluster. If that checks out, I think there is a problem with instrument cluster, itself.
Any applicable trouble codes?
Some makes and models, you may be able to get cluster to do a self-test? To do that, you may need a scanner that can communicate with instrument cluster.

Manual says that if the airbag light is on, it can cause all of the gauges on the IP to quit working. It says to check Fuse #22.. Fuse is ok. Any suggestions?


cab fuse or engine bay fuse? JB or PDC box?
no not true.
so why not post what the car does good and bad.
car runs perfectly and shifts ? all that.
all other light in car work? radio, etc.
with parking lights on does cluster glow? (back ground illumination?)
the cluster warning lights are dead , all are dead?
are all gauges, dead too? if some are say what? are dead.?
fuel , and engine heat?

PDC fuse 17 (engine bay) is PDC
and cab JB fuse 10

so 22 is bogus. there is no fuse 22 (usa car)
there is fuse 22 terminal. on fuse 9 and fuse 21>?
forget terminals, we do fuses real names,

first off, the cluster is a computer, im not privy to its programming,
(is anyone?)
but it must communicate to the PCM or its will fail, on the canbus
so turn on ignition (car battery charged to 12.6vdc rested)
all warning lights come one.
if not the cluster is not happy, this is a selft tests. of lamps.
the fuse posted above are the only fuses for it. PDC 17 and JB10
we use a scan tool next to be sure the PDC is not barfing comm errors. first. (or DTCs stating power loss)

recap
read the manual above
see the correct fuses for cluster
see that it is a computer with comm lines.
if those 2 pins on the cluster are12vdc key on then that is not the problem and the ground pin on cluster is at 0v, not 12v.

fuse 5 and 9 run (JB) run air bag computer box.

this is power to the cluster below, 8w-40--2
the whole cluster runs off those 4 power pins, if power is lost
the cluster brain goes dead. the left pin below is memory pin.
right top is main power. to cluster.

This Seems Indicative Of a Poor Connection AT The CLUSTER Or A Junction Connecter Close to the Cluster. This is Assuming you Have Ruled OUT ALL ABS COMPONENTS, LOOK at These VERY CLOSLY Because of the Small Volts These Wires Carry , the SMALLEST DEFECT WILL Cause this Type of Symptom that you have given. Please try all of the Above, I feel Confedint that athis is where your Problem Is.

GAUGES, CLUSTER, POWER WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING AT SAME TIME. HAVE PUT A USED CLUSTER IN , NEW IGN SWITCH, BODY MODULE UP UNDER DASH


Hi,
You need to check the fuse's in the main junction block which is fuse # 7 if this fuse is ok. Then turn the ignition switch off, disconnect the battery negative terminal and leave it off for 15mins. Reconnect then turn ignition switch on.

If these procedures still not working then you will need to remove the cluster and check that you have power going to the cluster through the (PCD) circut board on the back of the cluster.

The connector on the back is a 10 pin item count the terminals from the bottom left terminal # 1 - 10 at the Right hand top terminal. You should have power at terminal 3 and a ground signal at terminal 1 and 2.

My instrument lights and the high beam indicator doesn't work. I checked all the fuses and they are good.What else do I need to check?


It sounds like the Body Control Module (BCM) took a dump. They're about $50.00 at a junk yard, $500.00 for a rebuilt one from a dealer. It's located behind the fuse panel under the dashboard.

If you get a used one, make certain that the part numbers match.

Gages speedo tac all quit. fuses are good 98 jeep wrangler. did it before but came back on. changed gage cluster still will not work


Have you checked it with a scan tool to be sure it is actually getting the information? The instrument cluster do go out, meaning the ribbon on the back.I would check the connection, then turn to a way to determine if it is recieving a signal from ECM.

Instrument panel went dead


Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task).This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

Dash and shifter lights in 1996 jeep cherokee wont light


Hello and welcome to FixYa . Locate the dial that controls the brightness of the dashboardlights. If the control is not immediately evident. Make sure the brightness control is turned on. If it is and the lights aren't working, the problem may be a bad fuse. Check the fuse that controls the dashboard lights Replace the fuse if necessary. If just one part of the instrument panel is not lighting up, then you have either a burned-out bulb or a wiring problem.
