Question about 1990 Nissan Sentra

1990 nissan sentra overheating

I have a 1990 nissan sentra and its recently has been overheating.. I changed the thermostat twice, drained and refilled the radiator, but it still overheats after about 10mins on the road.. I can have it idling for over an hour with no complications... I checked the oil and I didnt see any water. Openned the drain pan and everything is ok. No leaks found. Just the resevior keep bubbling right before the engine overheats. The fans come on after 5-8 mins. I even tried driving it without the thermostat but it still overheats after awhile. Any help?

I forgot to mention that i also changed the water pump. I re-checked it and had a mechanic look over it and my connections. He said I must have a blown head gasket. What do you think?

And how do I do that?

It sounds like a water pump not circulating antifreeze properly

you can do a compression check ...all cylinders should have about 180 lbs if one or more is lower it can be a head gasket .....

you need a compression gauge... remove spark plugs....the gauge just screws in like a spark plug ..then turn over motor and it will give you a reading on gauge... do the same with each cylinders.. keep track of readings so you can compare.....

2003 nissan sentra is blowing cold air i changed thermostat stillblowing cold air i did notice that heater core hoses are both cold car is not overheating

remove both hoses from engine that passes through firewall to heater. put a stiff piece of wire in the hole and make sure it is clear. If there is no restriction, then the heater is choked up

2003 nissan sentra no heat, over heating

If the engine has overheated, chances are pretty good that you now have a warped or cracked cylinder head and a blown head gasket. Those engines are very unforgiving when it comes to being overheated.

Daughters 95 Sentra overheated this weekend. Lost a/c and cruise started to flash.... Could this be a thermostat. She said all fluids looked good and no leaks...

yes, the thermostat could be stuck closed.

I would still flush the system and install new antifreeze at least every 3 to 5 years.

Looks like this 95 Sentra needs servicing.

Good luck to you.

Heater blowing cold air

My 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8s with 55,000 mi. blows cold air from the heater. Coolant not circulating in engine. Lower hose stays cool to touch. Both heater hoses cold. Changed thermostat - didn't fix it. Coolant not leaking or dirty. None in oil - no oil in radiator. Changed worn water pump belt - pump spins freely with no noise or resistance. Cooling fans come on after warm-up. Temperature gauge stays in normal range then jumps to hot and back again. Coolant good to 10 below - didn't freeze here yet. No other problems or repairs to car. Afraid to drive and make worse. Help!
