SOURCE: how 2 change head light bulb on a 2000 z24
To change the bulbs in the headlights,(on a 2002 Z24) you need to remove the plastic splash cover the extends the width of the car over the headlights by removing the plastics pins that hold it in . Pull up on the center of the pins to remove them. Once the cover is off, remove the two bolts that hold the headlight in, then place a screwdriver into the slot for the parking light lens to pop the clip loose that holds the lens in place. The headlight assembly can then be removed, once the wire harness is unplugged from the bulb. There is a round retainer that locks the bulb into place. Rotate the retainer counter clockwise and remove the bulb. Don't touch the bulb surface as oil from a person's hands can cause premature failure. Just reverse these dirctions to reinstall the rest of the parts. This may sound difficult, but it really isn't. I hope this helps out some fellow z owners.

check the fuses for the lights or it might be the dimmer switch check at autozone

Ain't no "might be", I believe the person who told you it was a ground issue is probably shaking his head over the fact that you have not acted on this. Take apart the sockets that plug the wiring harness off that way and make sure they have no excessive corrosion, not forgetting to check the condition of the headlight plug-in. Any ground strap you see along that harness needs to be removed, cleaned and fastened securely with a shot of anticorrosion gunk (your choice, I don't think it matters one damn bit what kind you use since it all should work). Get to work! Enjoy yourself and figure about an hour (+-) for the job.

the cavaliers have a wire harness that runs along the bottom of the core support that connect the left and right light functions together. They are prone to collecting road grime that causes corrosion on wire splices inside of it. Pull the wires from the plastic loom cover, remove black tape and repair splices with solider or **** splices. I would suggest doing all of them while you already have it apart. Re-tape whole length of harness to make as water tight as possible and put back into plastic loom
