Can low coolant in car lock up your engine

Low coolant will cause overheating- damage to your engine- depending on how low it actually is. If the coolant is less than four years old you could just add coolant (you can buy premixed at the auto parts store) to the proper level. More than four years old and your coolant should be replaced; and the system flushed in the process. If you are just adding coolant, be sure you are using the proper coolant for your car.

Coolant

Its not too difficult. The is a canister that contains the coolant. Just undo the cap and top up. Be sure you use coolant to the same specs that is already there. If not, you'll have to drain out the old one and top up with completelty new coolant

Flush clogged heater core

The coolant is green because there is anti freeze and rust inhibitor that colours the water. If there was a blockage the engine would overheat. I suspect the thermostat has jammed open.

Just had the head gasket replaced am losing water and there are bubbles in radiator took it back told me bubbles were normal in older cars wondering if water can leak out the thermostat

Well, I've never heard that bubbles were normal in older cars. I'd say the shop was at fault for shoddy repairs. You got it back and it's leaking or losing coolant? Something they should have checked very carefully for before calling the work finished.
Possibly, the bubbles were from overheated coolant because the level was low, after you noticed the loss of water. You asked if coolant can leak from the thermostat-there is a gasket on the thermostat housing that covers the thermostat, and that housing gasket can certainly leak. And sometimes does after thermostat replacement, since the bolts are not torqued down real tight to avoid distorting the gasket and causing a leak. If you see any sign of coolant around the thermostat housing, it may be leaking there. You would need to turn the housing bolts down about a half turn, and see if that stopped the leak. If it still leaks, you would probably need a new thermostat housing gasket. Don't know if you want to confront that shop again, but they should do the service for free, it was their job to finish the job. A small task and a two dollar gasket is about it, but someone will have to drain a good portion of the coolant first. They should have checked for leaks or losing coolant.

After I added coolant to 91 chevy lumina the low coolant light will not go of I wonder why

When filling the coolant system you need to have the car running with radiator cap off and you can also burp the coolant hose while filling the system to remove any air. The system may be full for a while until thermostat opens and sucks the coolant out of radiator which is the perfect time to add more to top it off.

Disconnecting your negative battery cable for 10 minutes will reset the computer and shut off the light.

Engine gets hot and blows out coolant at the coolant tank. The fan will not run when engine is hot. The fan motor, wiring, relay, coolant censor, and computer all checked good. Thermostat replaced. My...

try wiggling the connector to the fan and see if it helps.
Sometimes when you check things cold they test O.K., but once they get warmed up they change size and stop working.

You might run power directly to the fan to make sure it's functional

Coolant indicator getting to close to hight!

Were you having this problem prior to having the coolant system flushed?

If so, it is likely that your thermostat is sticking.

If not, it is likely that there is an air bubble left in your system from when it was flushed. Most of the time, air bubbles will work themselves out. You'll just have to keep an eye on it and add fluid as needed. If this is the issue, the shop that flushed your coolant system should take care of it for you as part of their service.

Do you have any "check engine" lights?

Hope this helps and good luck!
