Question about 1989 Dodge Raider

1989 Dodge Raider

A few weeks ago, I was driving home when all of a sudden the truck died, no warning, just shut off. Then I couldn't start it for an hour or so. So I had it towed home. Now when I go out and start it, it runs fine until it warms up. Then it just dies instantly. When I go to restart it, it won't start. I'll go back an hour or so later and it will start, warm up then die. Can you help me? I have replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, brain, basically everything. It is like I am getting no spark to the coil.

my 1987 raider used to stop in cold (sub-zero) weather after driving 4 or 5 miles. it would run fine, then stop. took it to a garage, and they said something about an oxygen sensor being clogged up. such was fixed, and the problem so far hasn't come back

yes I have an 89' Dodge Raider 3.0 v6 5 speed. I am having the exact same problems as you. Last year replaced the coolant temp. switch and it worked fine for 5 mo's. Then it started doing the same thing again. Today I am putting in a fuel filter and have heard the problems could also be a oxygen sensor.

    Good Luck

I have had the same problem's with my 89 Raider stalling when it get's warm and not wanting to restart right away. After it sit's for about 15- 30 min. it will restart. I have replaced the temp. sensor and it fixed it for awhile, but now is doing the same thing. I am getting ready to change the fuel filter. I also heard it may be the oxygen sensor.

    thank you

I have the same probleam with my 87 Raider. It starts up fine, idles, then as soon as the engine heats up, it shuts down. I just realized that the coolant level is very low and not a good mixture, I'm think it's shutting off because it's overheating.

If you are getting power to anything else (such as the interior light) then this isn't your fix but, I had a similar issue where by 88 Raider ran fine but then would quit. I tested the battery and it was fine. However, the connectors for the battery were bad and weren't holding tight. I found it by pushing on the battery and one of the terminals just lifted off. Lucky is better than good sometimes.
