Question about 1996 GMC Suburban

Engine died while driving, cranks but won't start.

This is a K2500 with 7.4L engine. Wife was driving & engine died. Would crank but wouldn't start. Checked for secondary spark, there is none. Battery is good, cranks over well and can hear the fuel pump running. Checked coil, tested good. Changed crankshaft position sensor on hunch that it might be bad. Didn't work, still no spark at spark plugs. Plugged in scanner and turned ignition on, but scanner won't recognize that it is plugged in. Checked fuses, all good.

My 98 Ford Escort's engine died while driving earlier today. When I turn the ignition, it cranks just fine, but won't start. Battery and alternator are fine. Before the engine shut off, the car was running kind of jumpy and as it was dying, the car accelator would act more like a brake pedal- slowing the car down.

I have an 03 Saturn Vue with a 3.0 car has been running fine until Friday wife drove it to the store car started running rough then died now car will not start and has a poor crank anyone have any ideas of...

Engine needs to crank over strong and steady to have a chance of starting. Youi said it has a poor crank. Battery may be low or bad. If you get the engine to crank over corrrectly and it srill does not start check fuel pressure, spark and injector pulse.

Is there a heat shield on the starter

I don't think there is a heat shield on the starter but, I wouldn't think that would be you're problem. I would try changing the ignition module. It's on the engine block, drivers side, I think. Usually when they are going bad they will shut off engine when they get hot. It won't crank until it cools off. After it cools engine will crank and run good until it gets hot again. Good Luck.

Engine dies while idling, then car won't start for a few minutes

One possibility is a blocked fuel line or filter. It basically runs out of fuel and you have to wait for it to come through slowly. The other possibility is the ignition system is losing spark as something heats up. You have to wait until it's cooled down before it runs again.

1991 eagle talon will crank, but won't start up. 2 days ago I was driving home from work when i turned around in a parking lot and went to my parents house. about a half an hour there i needed to move...

That sounds like the fuel pump may have lost it's prime. Does it have fuel injection, or a carburetor on the engine? How much gas was in the tank while it was parked on an incline? Have you tried any starting fluid sprayed into the air intake hose, toward the engine? Warning! Don't use much starting fluid! Perhaps a one or two second burst, and have someone crank it immediately after you have stepped back at least 6 feet from the engine. If it fires, then it is definitely a fuel delivery problem! But it won't run long like that unless the fuel pump starts working again ... which is most likely when the engine is cold!

Just died when driving

Fine, do you have spark all the way to the plugs? What is the fuel pressure must be AT LEAST 42 PSI as soon as you turn on the ignition
You didn't mention the ignition module
Check the engine cranking Vacuum it needs to be at least 2" cranking if not the catalytic converters can be so plugged the engine can't start YES IT IS VERY POSSIBLE HAPPENS ALL THE TIME
The other reason you may not have 2" of cranking vacuum would be a jumped timing chain also check the compression look for any low cylinders add some ennginen oil to those low cylinders and if they do not come way up right away you have valve problems.
If this information is helpful please give me a fixya! Rating and if you need more help contact me
