Same problem on my 05 Turbo. Uneven idle initially, w/o CEL. Later misfire under load with CEL. Dealer said common problem but not as bad as on Audis. Replaced all eight with the latest version of coil (revision 4). Never ran better. I suggest you replace them all as a precaution.

Same problem on 06 Cayenne, replacing with new ones under warranty thankfully.  The last guy was exactly right in his description that it starts off with strange idle at times then progresses to very rough misfiring.

Hi, first check if you've got power to the coil. Have you checked all the fuses? If its not a fuse it may be a poor connection, possibly the ignition switch. Has your car got an immobiliser and if so is it inactive? If you still can't get power to the coil you can run a live direct from the positive battery terminal as a quick fix to enable you to drive it somewhere to get an auto electrician on it.

I think either you may have to flush the radiator or replace the thermostat. Really would not hurt to do both.

1986 porsche 944 dont pass ca smog running too lean

Probably Nox too high. Can also be engine too hot. Last time cooling system serviced? Also can be carbon in the combustion chamber ignites fuel too soon. Fuel delivery system and all sensors may be a problem. Bad or corroded connections can contribute to bad behavior of the ECU.

I have a porsche cayenne 2005.. it start, idle, shake and turn off.

I had what seems to be the exact problem. It sounds like the spark plugs need replacing or the coils over the spark plugs have cracked. Don't try to replace just one and while you're in the process of removing them you might as well replace the plugs too. If you've already done this, I'm not sure what your next step would be, slight of putting it on a montor. You need to remove the plastic shrouds around the engine. Undo the engine mount so the silver plastic covers can be removed on both sides. You'll also have to remove the black plastic covers over the wiring harness on top of the engine at te front. They just snap off. Each coil has a small screw holding them in place. Good luck.

Engine light is on and idles funny

Sounds like a misfire caused by either a bad spark plug or a bad ignition coil pack. You'll need an OBD tool to see which cylinder is misfiring and you'll likely need to replace the bad plug or ignition coil pack. Because this is part of the emissions control system, which is covered longer than the standard warrantied parts by law, you may be able to get this fixed under warranty. I'd call your dealer and find out.

The emmision warning light came and the car misfires on few occasions

You need to have the computer scanned. The problem is a misfire. You may have a bad coil, spark plug, or injector. My thoughts are an overheated coil.

Porsche hesitates.

Nice ride! My advise, since the check engine light is on, is to take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve the fault codes that are stored in the car's computer. Most parts stores offer this service free of charge. It could be caused by a faulty sensor, like the throttle position sensor, but getting the code(s) will help narrow down the specific cause of the problem more quickly. Sure hope this helped and good luck to ya!

You may need a new wiring harness. They have to be ordered from Germany. This is my guess. (I am having a similar issue with my '94; rough idle, #4 cylinder not firing intermittantly, replaced plugs and 8 ignition coils; new harness is my mechanics guess)

cheers and buena suerte

2005 Cayenne 4.5S has trouble starting after filling up with gas

if your talking about filling gas and motor cranck and is long at starting ,needs 2 or three trys , then you need to replace your engines tank vent valve in engine compartment on motor ,solenoid valve comes with plastic pipe, , note local porsche shop may even see stored fault in system and no check engine light on .
